Which kinds of allowances are not taxed?

Can I ask a quick tax question here?

Are the meal allowances that companies give us taxable? They seem to always be 2400 max.

My understanding is that they always use the 2400 meal allowance because it’s a tax loophole, but just want to check as I work out my taxes for 2022

What about things like mobile phone allowances?

No, companies can give meal allowance up to 2400 tax free a month!

but… it doesn’t count towards pension or insurance salary.

(I’m not a Taiwanese tax advisor)

Any idea on mobile phone allowances? My old company gave a 500 NT allowance per month

No idea mate. I would presume it would be tax free or deductible -for you at least- (as long as they had the receipt for it etc…) - I am not a certified tax accountant in Taiwan so I’m not sure how it would work here if there is an allowable threshold etc…

Also here is the relevant law for the meal allowance

But of course. Take all I say with a grain of salt and check with a tax accountant in Taiwan if you are beyond curious.

Logic would say that this should be taxable income, that doesnt count towards retirement or NHI.
