Why do we need tanks? Why don't we get defense missiles instead?

I agree it will be a slow strangle to take back Taiwan. However I could see China continually launching massive bombs into the most heavily populated areas until Taiwan surrenders. It all rests on US support.

Well yes it does ultimately rest on US support. But Taiwan isn’t just sitting here without any defensive or offensive capability that’s for sure.

I think I’ve said this in another thread…why can’t Taiwan join the USA like Hawaii? Taiwan will be super safe then.

I don’t think it’s that simple, and also if Taiwan joins the USA it may skew the political makeup, and they won’t have that.

Also I think more Taiwanese would be completely against it too.

agree. More taiwanese may prefer to join China than USA.

I guess that culturally they are more aligned , but one would imagine that the freedoms enjoyed may be missed ( after the fact )

If Taiwanese people want to uphold and enjoy its rule of law and democracy plus rights and freedoms, reunification with PRC is the last of its wishes.
