Hi folks, I went to the gym couple days ago, pulled a muscle on my chest it seemed. At first it didn’t seem so bad, so i continued to work out. The next day my right chest was hurting like a mofo. even when i take deep breaths it hurts.
So whats the fastest and most effective way to heal something like that? I’d like to get back into the gym asap. Right now it seems like the only things i can do are preacher curls and legs.
That’s the last thing you want to do right now. Pulled muscles need time to recover. Try the maximum strength Flexall Plus pain relieving gel. It’s perfect for muscle strains and sprains.
Wow, I’m also just recovering from a pulled muscle in the chest/ribs area. Difference is, I’m not sure if I pulled it while swimming or while coughing (as I’ve been doing a lot since I caught a cold couple weeks ago)
Went to the hospital, and came away with a medicinal cream. Was advised to wait until the pain goes away before resuming stretching and exercising. Guess you should do the same.
I’m a weightlifter too. I’d recommend staying off the upper body workouts for a while. Do some running, build up your cardio while you wait for it to heal. You may want to try and do some light swimming after a week or so. When you get back into it, stay with light weights for a while until you’re sure your 100%. Injuries suck, but the upside is you’ll come back pretty strong after having laid off for a few weeks and your muscles will respond well to further training.
You can also try a Chinese medicine doctor. I had a muscle injury to my foot a year or so ago. Two visits to the doc for acupuncture therapy, and I was back in working order. Ask a local friend for a recommend, or do a search here for.
Good advice from Tomas: I also saw a traditional doctor for acupuncture and it really did the trick. During the treatment I avoided heavy lifting and focused on cardio workouts.
