Work Permit is taking nearly a month to process. What should I do?

I’m not sure what my options are. I have been working in Taiwan for over 3 years and this is first time I’ve had this issue. My employer has stated that they submitted my documents for my work permit, but it has been nearly a month and still nothing. In ‘22, ‘23’, and ‘24, my work permit was given to my employer in less than 10 days. I plan on going on vacation outside of Taiwan on July 10th and will return on the 24th. My ARC expires on July 30th. Time is ticking and I don’t know what I should do.

I contacted the MoE and was told my permit “is finished but needs to run process” and that they would email my employer this evening. Once again, nothing has been sent to my employer and it is now 6 pm.

I’m stuck trying to decipher what the apparent disconnect is between my employer and the MoE.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Just relax

You have contacted MOE and it sounds as if you will get the work permit momentarily. If you arrive back and still don’t have the work permit the apply for a 6 month extension. Since your ARC will still be valid when you plan to return I don’t see any immigration issue.
