So have I (both rich and poor). And I agree rich is better than dirt poor, but it isn’t necessarily better than a level in which all your needs are met with maybe a bit to spare. I honestly do not believe it is. I remember living in California when my dad was struggling with his first business. We were happy as a family. I remember this time very well. Fast forward some years later when my dad was the vice president of a company and we were living on a very generous expat package in Hong Kong (live in maid, all three kids going to HKIS, everyone coming to our apartment and ooohing and aaaahing at the view and how spacious the place was, etc.). We were definitely happier in California.
