Would you use Chinese diapers?

My wife refuses to use diapers/nappies made in China, even if they are from a recognizable and trustworthy brand. For example, one brand that we have bought has both “Made in China” diapers and “Made in Japan” diapers. She paid a lot more to get the Japanese ones. I can understand not wanting to buy baby formula from China, but diapers are just like underwear really, and she wears clothes that were made in China everyday. Ultimately, I feel it is a mix of Taiwanese not liking China, and Taiwanese not trusting China. If it were up to you, would you buy diapers that were made in China?

I just always bought the cheapest ones unless they were found prone to leaking.

I don’t really care where they’re made.
I prioritize function and price.

Whatever the case, I don’t think it’s worth arguing with your wife over. If it makes her happy just buy the other kind of diapers. Babies don’t stay babies for that long.

While not a mother, I also use femenine products that have mostly the same specs and materials as diapers. I also stay away from Chinese made products due to safety and quality issues, no matter the brand.

However, this issue is almost moot, as most of the world outsources its raw materials from China. Like cotton, plastic, glue, whatever that goes in diapers. So whatever chemicals, weird recycling and lack of control as to what kind of labor is used, is already embedded in every thing we buy, unless it is specifically outsourced from elsewhere.

At least one supposes a Japanese brand/manufacturing would get you better quality, more controls.

Like toilet paper, the whole idea behind diapers is that at the first sign of going to shit, it gets thrown away. By design.

I suppose it might save a trip or two to the grocery store if you just wipe your ass with paper money, but no way am I spending a single penny more for shit paper than I absolutely gots to.

I would never trust Made In China nappies. Buy other countries, prevent CCP enrichment and dirty diaper leaks.

Go the other way and get the Chinese cloth nappy with the hole?

China kills babies with poison , i agree with her :100:

I do use a limited amount of china clothing and a iphone.
But food products never, baby toys or anything touching a baby never china…

My son was raised in usa by tw tiger mom , totally against china.

The biggest problem also fun was telling all relatives to only buy us non china stuff.
Tough to do but(t)possible

Understood, the question seems to be “can I trust the Chinese with something in direct contact with my baby’s butt and genitals skin?”

And possible answers were

  1. It’s only used for short times, thus limiting risk
  2. Raw materials are from China anyway, so it doesn’t matter where the diapers are made
  3. Regardless of answer, it’s not worth arguing over with the partner

I would also try to avoid made in china for diapers or feminine products. Simply because they touch sensitive skin… So you probably might want to try keeping the risk as low as possible for getting allergies or whatever.

Out of principle (trust), my family tries to avoid things made in china as much as possible. Especially for food, skin care and clothing. Yes, the raw materials are hard to know where they are from, and assumed to be from China often… So it’s not 100% for sure.

I only use Japanese ones

Chinese don’t even use Made In China diapers.

This is true. I used to live in Shanghai and once did a courier flight to Toronto, so I asked a friend who I knew had a newborn if he wanted me to bring back formula from the Walmart at Pearson Airport. He actually asked for baby diapers instead! Since I had no check in bags of my own, I did

I actually thought the OP was talking about diapers for the wife’s parents (although now that I look at it, it could have been about the wife). I import male incontinence products after all. So, I figured her concern was that lower quality diapers from China presented a higher risk of rashes, especially since some people try to “make the most” of the diapers and do not replace them as quickly as they should - don’t look at me, I happen to know adults who feel this way #pennywisepoundfoolish
