Does anyone know if the off-road trails at Guanxi are still open? Also, anyone have any directions or GPS coordinates to this place?
thanks!
Unfortunately, the excellent offorading trails no longer exist in their original form…The land has been taken over for development, and cops are awaiting all up and down provincial highway 3 just to do impromptu inspections on modified 4x4’s.
Thanks for the update MJB. That’s a real bummer - I wanted to take my Rodeo out to stretch its legs, so to speak. I suppose there’s always the tidal flats and pebble beaches at nearby Guanyin, but they don’t offer much of a challenge.

Darn. I thought they had moved onto other projects. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot more lifted 4x4’s than when I left. Maybe these guys are all doing the annual swap the wheels and suspension thing.

Could that be related anyhow to your current whereabouts?

Yes, could be. I think there is a 4WD area around here someplace, but I see a lot more downtown as well… a helluva lot more than in the first few months of the pogrom.
I’m new here and fairly new to Taiwan. I bought a 94 Jeep YJ about over a year ago when I moved to Taipei. It came equipped with a 5" +/- suspension lift and a set of 32" BFGs. However, I’ve never had any problems with the cops regarding wheel size. I just through on a set of stock wheels when it comes time for inspection.
Has anyone here ever been to Linko? The guys I ride with took me to a river bed there that was super rugged. I’m talking 30+" at some crossings. There’s a couple cool places in Bali also.
