The most entertaining thing about this entire thread and Andrew’s responses are that, while he thinks I’m just curious and wants to sway my opinion one way, I’ve looked into this quite well and understand fully what this is all about. Several (dozens) of people have given the same or similar accounts and we’re still being gaslighted.
By the way, I personally:
- Know that it’s racially motivated and that the owners feel they are completely immune to the law or any consequences. I’ve watched foreigners go in who don’t speak a lick of Chinese but obviously aren’t white men.
- Have been told to literally be quiet, finger on mouth when mentioning these clubs to some Taiwanese.
- Know of incidents where police have gone inside and have forced goers to delete photos and or video off their phone of inside the venues. What the ****?
I just want others to know the truth of the situation and not get the wrong impressions by disinformation swindlers who prefer the current status quo and/or suck up to these ‘gangster’ types. What I actually want is for someone official to give a statement on it, but that is absolute wishful thinking. Never mind, none of this open air mafia crime is too important but we will continue to pay taxes and be subject to public humiliation on tv news channels when a foreigner makes the smallest of mistakes.

Seems you were surprised a business like this could stay in operation. Yes nowhere is perfect, but it’s up to everyone who lives here to try and improve the place.
I’m more surprised that people want to go to a club with that kind of environment. If so, just business maybe.

Again completely missing the point. This type of business should not be allowed to operate in Taiwan and it is setting precedent. It is used to be just one establishment and now it’s two.
Whether or not people want to go there is beside the point, no one should be discriminated against based on their nationality, skin color, etc. I shouldn’t have to explain that.
No shit, I get it. Why do you think the government is ignoring it? They must know about it, and they’re image conscious enough to know it’s a bad look.
If people feel so strongly about this, why not file complaints to the National Human Rights Commission and the Executive Yuan’s gender commission to start. At the same time, figure out where file complaints with the Taichung government. When they fail to act, file a complaint with the Control Yuan. They may well be interested in complaints about the Taichung government.
My guess is that the boss got his gf stolen by a caucasian passport bro and he has vowed revenge on those furriners.

But yea you aint wrong, Taiwan is fairly corrupt in certain areas.
Probably because it’s a pretty isolated situation for a business that is known to discriminate for various reasons.
When you guys all get together to complain why young pretty ladies get in free and I’ll come together for this. That’s all I’m saying.
The fear of clubs around Taiwan all starting to turn away foreigners seems silly. I was deep into that scene. Walked into any club to the front without paying and knew the owners of many of the clubs(not the current one in question).
This is why perhaps my perspective is seen as gaslighting by the OP. I know how things work behind the scenes. Like I’ve said, it’s cool to have foreigners in your club. Most rich Taiwanese who are ABCs fit into this crowd and these 2 demographics go hand in hand. Rich Taiwanese and foreigners like to go to the same clubs.
Not to mention women being brought in, and foreign models.
I also don’t take it that seriously because I don’t think anyone should go to the club. It’s a waste of time as someone who went all the time. If they stopped foreigners from going to McDonald’s I’ll come riot with you all

Honestly it’s less about the club and its rules and more about how gangsters can just do whatever they want at this point. If you know anything about them, you can join L’s task force and bring them to justice.
