This nutjob apparently drove all the way across the country from Las Vegas to NYC to shoot up the Blackstone office. Meanwhile, CNN is trying to peddle the initial report of the shooter as “possibly white" after the NYPD had already released a photo of the suspect before he offed himself. Dude clearly isn’t white in the cctv footage.
We are working to understand why he targeted this particular location,” Tisch said.
That is the question.
Meanwhile, two apparent protesters, including one who yelled, “Free Palestine, I’m not the shooter,” were arrested outside of the building around the time of the shooting.
Jesus dude save the protest for later. I read they were released right away.
BlackStone and BlackRock are both large companies purchasing homes in the U.S. and creating an artificial shortage along with driving up rent. That would be a big motivation to target the offices.
reminds me of the retaliatory attack on YouTube HQ a few years back because of algorithm and monetization changes. Lots of people really upset at corporations crushing the fairness and stability of the marketplace.
Actually the vast majority of investment homes in the US are owned by “mom and pop” individual investors who own 2-5 properties. Similar in Taiwan, and most countries in the world
True “corporate” ownership from billion dollar companies is very small. Single family homes, quite frankly, are not the best investment.
But it’s easier to point the finger at big bad New York finance corporation instead of the auntie on the MRT
Ignoring the headlines and actually getting into the meat of things seems like investor based companies actually own very little of the single family home market. Don’t know if those numbers include apartment complexes though so it may skew the numbers a bit. The NAR report provides a lot of good data points.
