Yixing Teapots/Gongfu/laorencha tea pots

So, I am on my journey to find myself a nice gongfu tea set…the time has finally come. I was trying to resist the temptation to want to jump into it but I cannot lol.

I am just wondering, because the yixing tea pot is so porous, I feel like if it is not of good quality and not made with good stuff it could potentially be dangerous (like, no one likes a lead tea pot for example). I am not sure how to discern if a teapot is truly of good quality - I know about smelling it for a clay smell, etc, but I was just wondering if anyone has some tips and could maybe point me in the direction of a good area in Taipei to find nice teapots.

I have been to the Jade Market/Craft market and the selection is absolutely overwhelming! I would also like to go out and search around other places as well (honestly, I find it fun anyway  ) I am wondering though, how do you tell if the ones at the Jade Market are made well?

I might be being paranoid, I assume that most of them are really great and I trust that people are selling good products but the porous-ness of the teapot, I guess I’m just a little paranoid. I just want to make sure its legit.
