"You inspire me" compliment or insult

“Wow you inspire me, if you can do that then if I put my mind to it then I sure can too”
Is that insulting or complimentary ?
or “That’s inspiring if someone like you can do it I can too”

Bit of a double edged one . It may be that you are able to do something that surprises the person …like running up a Mountain at 70 years of age , so difficult without more context .

In most situations that would be taking the piss yeah

Every compliment said by a Taiwanese would usually actually not a compliment.
Like a “thank you”. Take it as grain of salt.

Perhaps time to reflect and see if at any time in the past anyone called you “special”.

ok I’ll get him back lol:thinking:

It really is inspiring to imagine what scientists and thinkers can do with the mysteries of the universe if you’ve been able to figure this out in a mere two days (with help from half a dozen people).

 Great video.
Yes the R word is off limits these days but it really could be used in so many contexts.

I’ve taken them all as compliments…
“You inspire me, thank you, you’re special…”
And I’m Taiwanese
That’s probably why my parents hate me so much lol
But I do make friends at work so…
I guess it’s okay to take them as compliments?
