Youtube has removed many videos of traditional Tao (Yami) dance performances by Ponso no Tao (Lanyu) elementary school students because its algorithm deemed these videos violated Youtube’s user agreement.

Whoever reported this to YouTube is an idiot.
If there’s an actual person doing the review on Google’s side, instead of just an algorithm, then that person is also an idiot.
I remember hearing (I think from laowhy86) that youtube really hates having any kids in videos. If someone could explain why this would be the case, I would appreciate it.

Some perverts were using YouTube’s comment function to sexually assault children pictured in the videos.
Then it should be those perverts’ accounts and comments that get deleted, not the videos themselves.
They would just create a new account.
To protect the children YouTube changed some terms to protect them.
That’s bull. It’s relatively easy to screen out pedophilic comments with NLP neural networks. That’s like saying to prevent racist comments, YouTube will now remove all videos containing non-White people.

Recently, I resurrected a disused YouTube channel. When I logged in to the user area, there was a big banner at the top saying that Google was understaffed and fewer human reviews would be done for the time being. This might result in videos being pulled by the system that did not violate community terms.
Something like that. If your innocent video gets pulled, it’s the pandemic’s fault. That was the message.
They are hyper about videos with kids or aimed at kids now. Probably a good idea, but there’s probably a few bugs still in the system

The Lanyu thing is just silly, i doubt it was a human at google as it is clearly not.
And yes, there are a LOT of idiots including any that reported this. Read the comments on any youtube video and you quickly start worrying about the future of our species.
