Had a great lunch there the other day, and ate the leftover calamari and nachos a couple of days later. Excellent as always.
Just realized I forgot to post this at the time, but when we had the Photowalk back in July, I booked the basement for 50 hungry photographers. Great variety of food served buffet style for us in a great space. Next time I plan a mass gathering that requires food, Yuma is the place I’ll be at.
I have to report my not so pleasant experience at Yuma last night.
It was one of my friends birthday so we had a big group. But we divided the bill and the ordering into sections to make it easier. My experience is based on our section of 7 people.
First off, it was getting pretty hot inside last night. So I kindly asked the waitress if something could be done like turning up A/C which was right next to us. Basically she just kept saying that the A/C was already on and gave me the run around. Problem didn’t get solved. Ok fine, not a big deal.
The real problem was with the speed of the food. So we all ordered our meals and a Nevada nachos. We were all VERY hungry so we wanted the nachos bad. I kindly asked that the nachos come out first. Well that didn’t happen.
Two order’s of chicken quesadilla came out relatively quickly. But then nothing came out after that. Me and my friend were pretty much done with our quesadilla’s and all the orders still hadn’t come out yet. There was still an order of pasta and two orders of steak quesdilla’s. Also the nachos were no where in sight. I had kept inquiring about the nachos and nothing was done. The lady just kept saying okokok, no apologizes or anything. So about an hour since ordering, only those two plates and one more 3 cheese quesdilla had come out, still no nachos or the other orders. Here’s the funny part, then the lady comes over and says that they ran out of beef! And asked my two friends who ordered the steak quesdilla if they wanted to order something else. Keep in mind, this is about an hour after we first ordered. I mean how are you going to come and tell us that they ran out of food AFTER one hour? I can understand a restaurant running out of food, that happens. But to run out and then not tell us for a whole hour after ordering? That’s not right. My friends were just like forget it. They ended up just sharing the order of 3 cheese quesdilla.
When the lady came over, I inquired about the nachos for about the 7th time(no exaggeration). This was getting pretty ridiculous, we were all done with our meals and our APPETIZER nachos still hadn’t arrived. I asked the lady shouldn’t the nachos come BEFORE the entrees? Then she starts arguing with me saying that our chicken quesdilla that had arrived first were actually for the other section. I’m thinking to myself, well who’s fault is that? She actually started arguing with me and giving me lip. How can a waitress start arguing with a customer when we’re done with our meal but the nachos havn’t even arrived yet? That’s just terrible customer service.
After a couple of minutes, she comes back and asks in a rather rude tone ‘Do you guys still want your nachos or what’? Well faced with this tone and also this question probably means that they havn’t even started making the nachos, we said no forget it. Besides we were all done and full anyways. But guess what, after a few minutes, the nachos came out! The waitress, knowing that we had just canceled it, didn’t even ask if we wanted it, she just came and put it down without a word. Wow, we were all just speechless. It doesn’t arrive when its suppose to, then after we cancel it, it finally arrives. I mean we could of sent it back and said no, but we were just so frustrated and let down, we were just like forget it.
So overall a terrible dining experience. They didn’t compensate us in anyway. On top of it, they still charged us the service fee. This is harsh, but I would say that I get better service at Taco Bell. Thumbs down for Yuma Grill.
My experience differs greatly from the previous poster, Tony the Tiger.
I’ve been to Yuma several times over the past few months. It’s always been terrific. The food is wonderful, and the service has been extremely good every time.
I went there today and had an excellent plate of nachos. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good tacos/burritos/nachos. I’d go a lot more often, if it weren’t for the fact that I live in Taoyuan!
I was there again last Sunday. There was a new waitress on her 2nd day who did a great job. Very friendly and efficient.
I’ve been to Yuma about a dozen times it’s been excellent each time. Of course, I’m usual in when its dead quiet in the middle of the afternoon…
i was there for the first time last weekend and even though i only had a little piece of the ribs i must say that it was very very very tasty and hope to head their soon for supper one of these fine weekends.
Their service was great too every waiter and waitress i met/spoke to had a smile on their face and was very friendly.
Tried out the ribs night on Tuesday, but what’s not clear from the ad is that you only get a second slab of ribs, no sides.
Now it didn’t really matter as the sides with the first slab of ribs where more than enough for me and my GF to share, she didn’t even manage to finish off her slab so she ended up with a little doggy bag
Fantastic deal though and Yuma’s ribs are possibly the best you can get in Taiwan (forget about TGI’s).
What fantastic food and service. Thank you very much. I will be back again and again.
The Guac is good! Thanks, Yuma!
I just realized I’ve never posted in this thread!
Considering the awesome food I’ve been eating there lately, this post is long past due. I’d like to make mention of four things about this place that I like A LOT.
The service is fantastic. Now the owner is a personal friend, but I’ve had the chance to observe the staff taking care of the other customers as well - they’re definitely on the ball.
The margaritas. Woo boy. The liquor content is generous, and Yuma doesn’t use mix! They use fresh lemons, the tequila is first-rate, and the rim is always carefully salted. Just one margarita takes the edge off. Two blunts the day in a happy way. If you haven’t tried one before, or if you’ve never been a fan, try one at Yuma - if you don’t like their margaritas, you’ll never like them.
The ribs. Fantastic! I have to admit, my first order of ribs there was in their first week, of business and they were good, but not that remarkable. It seems to me that they’ve tweaked and refined their cooking methods, because the ribs I had yesterday were just perfect. ![]()
The nachos. Normally I’m not a big fan, but the pulled pork nachos are great! The portion is huge, the cheese isn’t the cheap stuff, and the toppings are fresh and plentiful.
Add very reasonable prices and a convenient location into the mix, and you’ve got a winning combination. ![]()

i have to agree they are awesome. Ive been a fan for a while but definately the best plac eto get them is at Yuma’s!! :lick:
Great lunch there today. The menu keeps getting better and better. Loved the salmon and the guac.
The guac and the beers and the ribs and the beers and the chicken and the beers and did I mention the beers? Very nice Friday, thank you very much! ![]()
For future reference, yes, they take cards, and yes, those margaritas are delicious and potent :discodance:
Two thumbs up for the pulled pork tacos, and the chicken quesadillas. :bravo: We’ll be back to Yuma soon!
Was in Yuma last night and everything seems to be running smoothly again. Thank god - I love those ribs!!
I was in Yuma today for lunch and a couple of days ago. Had a great lunch today of ribs with Dijon mustard (lovely!) and to my knowledge it never closed at all. It’s still there and business as usual. Whatever internal hiccups there may have been, the food is still great and the beer is still cold!
Best wishes Allan. Went to Yuma last night for a regular Tuesday Rib special :lick: . Was
informed that Yuma are no longer doing and Midweek specials. Hopefully they will remove the banners advertising their specials on this site and others.
Also it seems they no longer offer children meals ![]()
We go about once a mth, we were there last weekend, asked two different servers and were told they “don’t do childrens meals”, we always used to get a kids meal for our daughter off the ‘drawing paper’ (or whatever you would call it) they provide to entertain the kids… limits the options for a family… a regular meal is too large for our 5yo…
I was there tonight and everything was good. Seems that some of the other partners are stepping in and putting in face time to make sure that the standards are maintained. Don’t know much about childrens’ menus, but whenever I go, my party always shares dishes. Tonight I split a full rack and some sides and we were both happy.
