Hello
My pal is taking his cats back to Europe and he can’t find a pet crate small enough to fit under the seat. Has anyone seen one that is only 23 inches tall? That is the maximum allowed by Turkish Airline.
If anyone has a used one he is amenable to purchasing it.
So you are looking for one with a height less than 23 inches, about 58.4 cm.
I think there are plenty cages that would fit the criteria.

L45xW30xH28 cm would that be small enough?

This one claims to be air travel friendly. The dimensions one is L48xW31xH28 cm, slightly larger than the last one.
There are plenty of pet stores with that kind of cages. Shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Incredibly so. they all have 25, not 23. At least in Tunghua Street, Gongguan, several large pet stores and vets.
Thanks for the links. I will give them to my pal. Let’s hope they meet the criteria of the airline. They look a biot big, though.
For example, in my times, you couldn’t get them to accept clip on, it had to be screws. No wheels, no folding.
Wait, in the original post you said 23 inches tall, but it seems like you are looking for one only 23 cm tall.

Probably. That is how my pal gave me the data.
EDIT
Sigh
The size of allowed cages/bags for pets in the cabin is 23x40x55 cm (widthxheightxlength). All carry on cages/bags must not exceed a total weight of 8kg. Should the weight of the cage and pet exceed 8kg, it may only be transported as cargo.
•Length: 55 cm (22 in)
•Width: 40 cm (16 in)
•Height: 23 cm (9 in)
Six years and seven months it’s been, but my time in what has to be one of the world’s most fascinating countries has come to an end. In case anyone else sadly finds themselves packing up after a long stay, here are some facts I have learned in the process:
[ul]Money[/ul]
I bank at the post office. Transferring money from there to a US bank account is no hassle (provided you already have a US bank account). All I needed was the swift code and my account number, though not every bank offers w…
The best info I can recall on the subject was Hokwongwei’s checklist before he left Taiwan.
He was travelling with United with this restriction on the dimensions:
https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/animals/in_cabin.aspx
The maximum dimensions for hard-sided kennels are 17.5 inches long x 12 inches wide x 7.5 inches high (44 cm x 30 cm x 19 cm).
Hokwongei obviously found two of those. I’m going through the post to see if he mentioned where he got them.

As I said before, I am really worried about this pal, as he is taking 2 cats to Spain. On a plane. On Turkish Airlines. Did I mention during Chinese New Year?
The smallest I saw so far is 28cm.

No luck finding a crate or carrier small enough in Taiwan. We are looking in Amazon and there are not that small. I do not understand how they require something that is so hard to find.
Look from a major pet stuff supplier:

小號:底長29cm,寬18cm,高24cm,淨重0.675kg
this one is like 1 cm off… Not what I’d take on a plane personally, but it’s as close as it comes.

Thank you. Pal called airline. 24 should be OK. Problem is I can’t buy in Ruten. We’ll ask anyways.
There’s this one that’s exactly 23 cm from China. However, it’s a nightmare buying things from Taobao, so I didn’t suggest it…

I actually have a friend working there who can help. Hate to bother her, though, but if push comes to shove…
Again, I can’t understand why it is so hard to find this size.

The other thing I’ve noticed: why none have screws anymore? I think airline regulations dictate screws, not clamps.

Hello Icon,
I know it is a bit long time… But may I ask, how was your pal’s flight with Turkish Airlines? Could he manage the right size of a pet carrier?

I guess so. Cat went home to Europe…and he’s getting ready to come back as soon as COVID allows.
