Yes I suspected it is just that, switching between whatever is the most abundant energy source.
Wow, I had the same thing yesterday. Plus a couple of beers to get the day started.
Day 5: I weigh 230.4. Down from 237. This is encouraging. Even if this quick weight loss is mostly water, I want to see the trend continue.
Sept 2:
67% fat, 26% protein, 6.7% carbs (33g net carbs)
2031 calories
Exercise: 5.5km walk
Note: I had a taco salad without tacos (greens, ground beef, cheese, red pepper, tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, avacado, Frank’s red hot) for lunch. I was so insanely stuffed (and I wasn’t that hungry when lunch rolled around), that I may just skip lunch. We will see how it goes.
Looks good but wonder why calories that high. My calories rarely go over 1500 when on keto. Somedays around 1500 which isn’t healhy so I have to watch closely and get the calories up. Yesterday I was less than 500 so ate sardines, avocado and some cheese late in the day.
September 3
Weight: 89.1 kilos (started out at 90)
Body fat: 25.9% (starting from 27%)
2000 calories high? Wow. I am a big dude and 2000 is low enough, especially if any exercise was done that day (and my walk should be around 500 calories burned). Mind you, on my 2 meal days it was closer to that, and I was super full today - too full. I am definitely trying two meals tomorrow. I will let you guys know how it goes.
That’s high for me. Mileage could vary.
Day 6, morning weigh-in: 229 lbs, down from 237.
September 4.
Weight: 89 kilos (from 90)
Body fat: 27.1% (from 27%) (don’t fully trust this but do believe that the general trend over days/weeks will be about right)
I am going to do a weigh in /measurements on the morning of my anniversary (Sept 7). I will be about 10 days in. My wife yesterday commented she can see I have lost weight ( she is too nice I think).
September 7 evening will be a Keto fail, but just for the one meal. I have been very good so far. I even managed to politely decline birthday cake at work yesterday …
ha … when I was doing a keto phase, Sushi Express was one of my regular dinner options.
Where do you guys fit all that stuff?! This from someone who also has sashimi as keto option.
It just seems to fit. And I always seem to be hungry by the time I get there.
Yesterday was my seventh day of eating a very-low-carb diet. Yesterday morning I weighed 228.6 lbs, down from 237. That’s 8.4 pounds! Of course most of that is water weight, and I expect the weight loss will not be as extreme in the coming weeks.
It has not been difficult because eating this way really works and I’m seeing positive results. I have not had any indigestion or bloating, which was happening before with my typical “eat everything” diet.
In addition, I am not suffering any hunger pains. Occasionally I get the sense that I would like to eat something, but this is just as much psychological as physical. I realize that I don’t suffer from physical hunger, instead I have some psychological or emotional need, call it a habit, to eat more than is necessary. If I ignore the feeling then I soon forget about eating, and I don’t lose energy or get hungrier. So a huge benefit is having stable energy levels throughout the day, and not needing to spend time money and effort to figure out what I’m going to eat and how to get it.
Thank you to Noel for starting this thread. It was a random thing for me to read this and decide that I should eat better and lose some weight. And it helps me to come back here to post results. The accountability of random strangers on the internet!
Although I don’t intend to write long posts, I will continue with low-carb eating and intermittent fasting, and update my results here.
I’m on day 4 of Keto.
I used to always bounce between 160 and 175 lbs for years. But since I had a kid a couple years ago I’ve lost track of my diet and often eat whatever is available and eat it quickly. Plus I’m getting older and my metabolism is slowing. Couple that with traveling back to the west for a month this summer and overindulging myself at every meal (and having a few heavy drinking nights out) and I had ballooned to 195 by the time I got back earlier this week. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It put the fear of god in me.
3 days later I just weighed myself again and I’m now 190. Now some of that is water weight, but I think it’s working.
Started on 9/1.
Weight: 88.4 kilos (started at 90 kilos)
Body fat: 26.9% (started at 27%)
I just want to get back down to 86 kilos.
I have that habit at home. So I try and remove unhealthy snacks from the house. Or pick something semi-healthy like honey coated nuts.
Costco has some chocolate covered coconut curls and seeds. Not bad, not decadent but low sugar and tasty chocolate helps a lot.
