Not so much freedom for the villagers of My Lai, or any of the many millions of victims of American aggression around the world. 
I watched a TV show about Vietnams economic resurgence since the war, mostly via direct trade with China. Americans have an 80% favorability compared to 10% for the Chi-coms. They remember THAT 1979 war better than the 20 years of aggression. Ha. Love them and leave them. Works every time.
Happy 4th of July this Saturday. It’s the 250th anniversary. We will be going to a fundraiser lunch at a church in Fulong (Pastor is American so it kind of works). Other than that, no plans. I still remember the 200th anniversary in 1976. We were in California. My parents were so young. Yes, I’m that old.

Trump is King Midas in reverse. It’s tragic that what should be a year of patriotic celebration, as it was in 1976, in 2026 is sad and muted affair that no one wants to show up for. And all because of one petty, corrosive manchild who wants to politicize it and turn it into a celebration of himself.
Are you old enough to remember it? It was definitely a huge event. I think most of it is just that things are different now. It’s not the 1970s. Maybe the 300th will be better
