I know…I know. A lot of people hate Abercrombie, and I LOVE a lot of the styles here in Taiwan. However, I’m starting to miss good ol’ Abercrombie & Fitch. When I was here last over the summer I remember seeing a store, but I don’t rememeber where it was…so I know there is at least one unless it has gone out of business in the subsequent half year. Can anyone help???
There is no official Abercrombie store here that I know of. However many of the retailers in the Wufenpu clothing market carry Abercrombie stuff. And not the cheap visible knockoff crap. A lot of the stuff if fully tagged and labled. And while this doesn’t mean that is real for certain there is a big difference between good fakes and crap fakes.
I spotted an Ahercromhie & Eitch shirt on someone, but I didn’t think to ask them where they bought it. Shame I didn’t…I thought that was much cooler than the real thing.
You can sometimes get A&F shirts with the labels slashed in a shop called “Bartack” right next to the mango place on Yungkang St. I got a bunch for about NT$500 a pop, but I didn’t know they’re trendy – they’re not very fashionable. Sure are cheap though, and the quality is good.
I stubled on to an A&F reatil outlet, tags cut off place on the lake just outside of Hualien…I was shocked to find a great baggy wool sweater for like 600NT. I can’t think of the name of the lake though…and that’s a fer piece to go for a sweater!
i’ve ordered online a few times and they do deliver to taiwan but i ended up having to pay a huge tx-type thing to the fedex guy.
ok, ok. it seems like i’m a little out of luck with abercrombie unless I either want to 1) order it online or 2) buy a possible knockoff. So, since there really aren’t any specific “abercrombie” stores out there…do any of you have some suggestions for stores/areas that would sell products that are either VERY similar or identical in style to the stuff abercrombie sells? If you don’t know exactly what I’m talking about feel free to head over to the abercrombie site at:
The place outside Hualien is at Li Yu Lake (Li Yu Tan). They actually have a number of name brands available which are made for the overseas market, thus they are in “foreigner” sizes. The inventory changes quite a bit so one never knows what will be in stock when you go but the prices are good and it’s worth a look if you are going there on a day trip. Li Yu Tan is, by the way, only about 30 minutes out of Hualien by scooter. Bicycles can be rented there as well and there is a Sarlee’s Cafe for a meal if you plan on making a day of it. Nice road around the lake for bicycycles and of course, the paddle boats are popular with the locals. My father walks around the lake every morning and really enjoys the quiet.
ok, ok. it seems like I’m a little out of luck with abercrombie unless I either want to 1) order it online or 2) buy a possible knockoff.
Those aren’t knock-offs. Knockoffs would not cut out the tags. Those are factory rejects. I find it extremely difficult to spot the reason they were rejected too. So you can get the real thing, but it might have a slight problem that you can’t even tell why. Most likely their products are made in Taiwan and the factory sells the rejects to someone that distributes them around Taiwan to certain shops, or someone buys them from the factory in China and sells them to shops here. They are not knock-offs. Look in Tien Mu on Chung Shan N. Rd. Sect. 7, East side of the street and on Tunhwa between Zhong Xiao and Civil Blvd. on the East side of the street.
PS: Does “Chinese food make you sick” Fandango, maybe you “want two chili dogs and a malt”. Finally, do you think its “fly when girls stop by for the summer”?
Just to add to Hobart’s comments . . .
An overrun is included in an order to cover rejects and when the order is filled the authorized overrun is to be disposed of. Cut-tag clothing is the overrun - both the rejects and the remaining difference between what was actually manufactured and what was actually ordered - so either a small flaw or just the extra with no flaw at all.
permission to revive this old thread. any updates about this question? I made a search on facebook and found these addresses:
忠孝店: 台北市大安路一段51巷50號 TEL:02-87717545
士林店:台北市士林區文林路267號 TEL:02-28823625
桃園店: 桃園市民生路134號 TEL:03-3358810
汐止店:新北市汐止區康寧街631號 TEL:02-26952389
can anyone please confirm if these stores do exist because my home is quite far from the city. Also, which branch is the biggest? More choices would be good
There is a very shop on Anhu Lu Section 2 on the corner beside Cathay United Bank. Not sure if knock-offs, factory rejects, or just an illegal shop. But they’ve been selling it for a couple years.

I’m heading to the 士林 district tomorrow. I’ll go take a look at that address and see if they exist or carry what you want. Will post here Sunday or Monday night.
wow, that’s so nice of you. thank you very much!
I could smell high concentrations of douchebag essence in the wind today, so there may be an outlet in my immediate area, I will go around the neighborhood to check and then report back if I find anything.
Ok, the store in 士林店 does exist, but it’s not a licensed store. What it is is the owner cannot find AF licensed stores himself (maybe Aercrombie and Fitch don’t want to?) and so he bought lots of AF clothing and sell them at his store (AF and GH brands) like a middleman. Therefore everything is legit and not fake. He even told me he’s got the receipt for all of them. So what this means is, they have legit AF stuff but selected sizes only. They open 3pm to 10pm daily and closes on every 12th of the month. You can come here (get off of 士林 MRT station exiting 士林 night market , buy some AF clothing, then go to the nearby 士林 night market and enjoy a good night out. I might be able to check out the 忠孝店 if I pass by there in the next few days for business, but not sure if I will. If so, I’ll let you know.
thanks, you’ve been really helpful! will check it out one of these days
There’s no A&F store in Taiwan, only resellers. The closest one is in Hong Kong
By 2015 there will be an A&F in Taipei in Xin Yi District. Get ready for mayhem and douchebags.
I know this is somewhat off the topic, but why is A&F so popular among Taipei men? Back in the states only gay guys wear them and proudly, consider the creator/designer is gay. I’ve never seen a guy back in the States (California to be precise) would even go inside an A&F store. This also applies to a LOT of hairstyle designers here are straight Taiwanese guys and I’ve never met one back in the States that is openly straight (not talking about barbershops).
