Iâm not sure about same sex relationships since the dynamics are different, but in opposite sex relationships, although it might still raise an eyebrow in Western culture to have a woman significantly older than the man, in Asian culture ĺ§ĺźć is much more scrutinized, and Iâve personally had dates express their doubts and even reject me simply because I was 2-3 years younger than they were, but for whatever itâs worth, my parents were 9 years apart (but then again they spent most of their lives in the US)⌠Although at the end of the day, I personally donât care; love is love.

Put yourself out there go hang out at cafes unlike in the USA people do meet people at cafes
Make friends with the owners of the cafes and they will introduce you to their friends
Go to gyms unlike in the USA people meet people. At gyms
Join clubs hiking clubs bowling clubs etc
Go to dance halls if they still have them where people meet people
Go to bars and discos

You might find that the ârespecting eldersâ dynamic translates into a power imbalance that people find uncomfortable in a romantic setting. Itâs not impossible to find, but the social perception is quite different from the US.
