Introductory rate according to the news here is NT$888 one way to KL.
Plus NT$210 for 15kg’s of luggage and they also charge for food.
Still, sounds like a bargain to me, but I’m not sure when it starts, as three are no details on their websites apart from an option to sign up for more info.
I guess they only fly on certain days of the week as well.

More importantly, it links up with the rest of the AirAsia network for supposedly cheap flights to Europe. Filling the gap left by Oasis.
Wo-hoo! About time Taiwan got decent low cost airline links, the irony is why there isn’t one to HK or BKK!
Cebu Pacific routing thru Cebu iin the Phillipines is a good option to get around SE Asia too, their planes are new Airbuses. There’s a cheap flight to Singapore aswell which (perhaps Air Asia also).
These low cost flights open up Asia for travel.
well and good. but Malaysia should give visa free access to Taiwanese so there would be more tourists who will want to go there.
I read on wiki that they do give landing visas for a fee (not cheap). Fee is probably more then the air ticket.
Malaysian Airlines fighting back with more flights planned. Will it work or will low cost Air Asia take it out of the equation?>

More news on the Air Asia X flights:
The only people who will benefit from this are the Malaysians. They can enter Taiwan without visas.
Didnt someone say that now you can take advantage of Air Asia X long distance flights this way? I think thats what really is of interest to many.
I agree Ralph, but that is the Taiwanese govt. and Taiwanese people’s problem, they should look for their visas… but they don’t say anything, too passive! ( tai bei dong de la!)
Taiwanese take up the ass and then take it up the ass some more…
I wonder how Air Asia X can stay in biz with airlines losing kabundles every day. They are offering KL to and from London for about 727 dollars each and KL to / from Melbourne for about 280 dollars each. So yes using this cheap TPE to/from KL and connecting onwards to australia or london seems like a sweet deal.
It’s good as long as you don’t miss the connection, these type of flights have no flexibility. I will check it out anyway.
I hope Air Asia is safe. On the pilots forum, some guy claimed that all you need is one functioning eye and hand and your in.
Well they cant be worse then CAL
This sounds great…I’d love to hop over to KL for a couple days!
I took about 15 Air Asia flights last summer and they were smooth and safe -much more than the China Airlines landings I just experienced last week.
has anyone actually tried to book a trip to KL? i couldn’t find any flights at anytime.
Tried booking flights for December 2009 (they start in July) and was quoted NT$6500 - is that considered especially cheap?
A grave dig here to express a similar sentiment.
Airfares for the time I am planning to travel in 2026 appear to be quite reasonable.
Do any forumosans have experience flying with Malaysian Airlines on the TPE - KUL route?
I’m also considering Cathay Pacific on this route, although that would of course entail changing planes in HKG.
Any and all advice appreciated!
Guy
I mean it’s going to be better than AirAsia , but don’t expect too much.
Yes sir, TPEKUL on MH which also lucky us they accepted the upgrade bid and so we flew in J.
almost 1 hr late, it’s not reliable, do not plan any dinner at night in KUL when arriving. But lucky enough to be able to get into CX lounge at TPE and also over indulge with the cart satay service. That is sublime. Unremarkable plane and product otherwise
