Asian fixation or men just being men?
And back to Arteta:

Quite apart from anything else, if you’re partial to slender-bodied, perfectly proportioned, wispy-waisted, shapely-limbed, pert-breasted, silky-skinned, sparkling-eyed, gentle-natured, sweetly affectionate, eagerly pleasing, warmly considerate, lovingly attentive, sexually passionate, glowingly radiant, flawlessly feminine, entrancingly alluring and breathtakingly gorgeous young women, then you’re sure to find pleasure for all of your senses in Taiwan.
Yep, that about sums up the perspective of one who has “yellow fever”.

As if such qualities can’t be found in women from other parts of the world. :unamused:

I find the sexual objectification of Asian women to be quite appalling these days.

I find the use of the phrase yellow fever to be appallingly racist these days.

There, out PC’d ya’!

Well slapped down, Tom! These people who refer to Asian ladies as “yellows” are beyond disgusting.

And, Mr Foul Mouth:
I find the intrusion into our discussions of impertinent no-posts-to-their-name signed-up-just-to-poo-in-this-site trolls to be quite appalling these days. And since you may be completely assured that your presence here is entirely unwelcome, and we don’t care to be privy to anything you think about anything, please cease and desist from emptying your bowels on our doorstep, and go find somewhere else to squat.

Oookay, let’s see if we can do this without starting a serious verbal joust.

I’ve seen the term “yellow fever” used in this thread more than once, and I was not the first to throw it around. Perhaps the use of the phrase “Asian Fetish” would satisfy those of the more sensitive nature? Also, this link will provide my case in point:

psychologytoday.com/blog/mil … ian-fetish

I’m brand new to Taiwan, hence my reasons for joining this forum, hence my low post count. Literally “fresh off the boat”, so-to-speak.

Also, I don’t know what I find to be more disgusting, the fact that I used the term “yellow fever”, or the fact that you singled out Asian women solely for the purpose of sexual objectification. You’ve put Asian women and, more specifically, women in Taiwan as being one of the prominent reasons to stay. Your summation would suggest that you feel they are “wonderful for the aesthetic and sexual gratification of the foreign men who live/visit here”. You also break down the typical Asian female stereotypes of how they are eager to please and sexually voracious.

You’re focusing on all of these things based solely on their race. It’s like saying all black men are criminals, good at basketball, and have massive penises.

Tell me, in your verbal breakdown of my level of PC correctness…did you ever once stop to think that maybe you’re the racist? Just a question, not an accusation. I’m pretty sure you’re not. Just as I’d hope that you wouldn’t jump to any conclusions based on my use of one, very widely used term. I honestly meant no offense, and if any damage has been done as a result, then I apologize.

I’m lurking, gents. Here to get the lay of the land and, more importantly, to see if the foreigner community is as douchey and detestable as the one to be found in Korea. I hope to avoid the frat boys who think that Asian women are the ideal “penis magnets”, thank you very much.

I think I’m going to enjoy being part of this forum. Pleased to make your acquaintance, sir.

Who gives a fig about whether someone finds asian girls attractive. What is it to you if someone has “yellow fever”

And welcome to the rock.

SolidChamp,

Omniloquacious dd not mention race in his post admiring qualities he perceives in the women in Taiwan.

Let’s contrast that with your own very explicitly racist earlier remark below:
[…]
Asia…the white guys come for the jobs, but they stay for the pussy.
Ironic, no? Who really has the issue with race here?

I was dragging the foreign guys who come here to troll for women through the mud, not the locals.

And no, Omniloquacious wasn’t talking about Asian women at all when he gave that so very astute and specific description. Not at all. :unamused:

I’m not jumping to the assumption that most of the people posting here are idiots, so please extend me the same courtesy.

Cheers! Much obliged.

Oh god, the Pc police are out in force. Where is the puke icon. Mods please consider adding it so I can use to indicate my contempt.

Precisely. It seems from this bozo that racism toward white guys is perfectly acceptable, but not toward other people.
Yours is of course not the most odious shit I’ve seen spewed on here over the years, but you can be sure that if I find myself in your company, I’ll make every effort to “make my excuses and leave,” as they say. Got no time for you or people like you. Unpleasant in the extreme.

Here ya go:

I was just pointing out that you’re treading fairly deeply in similar mud, regardless of what group you’re attempting to generalize about.

Eyerolls are neither courteous nor likely to bring you any courtesy.

That said, welcome to Forumosa.

Okay, fair enough then. I may have been a bit hasty in some of my remarks, and for that I apologize. First impressions and such. This is a testy bunch you have here…I promise to exercise better tact with my posting in the future.

My thanks for the welcoming.

You just got your feet wet and you insulted most of the board, way to go champ, way to go.
Oookay, let’s see if we can do this …
Now that’s a big improvement on your previous “contribution” to this thread. Keep it up, comport yourself with appropriate propriety and civility, don’t blindly toss turds at other posters without sufficiently understanding who you’re addressing or the substance of what you’re addressing, and I’m sure you’ll be made very welcome here.

However, while the tone of your second post is better, it contains much that’s hardly less idiotic. That doesn’t imply that you are an idiot for writing such idiocy. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt on that, and assume you just spurted it out without giving any proper thought to it. Now I will take a couple of minutes to set you straight, so that you will know better next time.

Your posts both exhibit a complete and utter failure of logic. In case logic is not your strong point, let me give you a helping hand. Saying that there are lovely ladies in a certain country, and listing some of their merits, does not in any way imply that ladies elsewhere are lacking in loveliness. Just as saying that Taiwan has beautiful mountains does not in any way imply that the Himalayas or the Alps are lacking in beauty. Or saying that mangoes are delicious does not in any way cast aspersions on the flavour of bananas or apples.

Surely that’s not hard to grasp, is it? Praise is not a zero sum. Heaping praise on A does not mean that there is no praise left to be heaped on B. It does not even mean that there’s not greater praise to be heaped on B, C and D. It simply means that the subject of the praiser’s comments is A, and this is what he has to say about A. It gives absolutely no indication at all as to what he might or might not have to say about anyone or anything else! How could that not be as plain as daylight, even to the most logic-impaired?

Wrong, wrong and wrong again. Firstly, I did not say that all women in Taiwan possess the qualities that I described. My comment was that there are many such ladies to be found here. Secondly, most of my description referred to cultural traits, not racial traits. The same traits may or may not be found in China, Singapore, or ethnic Chinese communities elsewhere in the world. Third, as others have mentioned, I didn’t even mention the race or nationality of those about whom I was waxing lyrical. For all you know, I could have been referring to other Westerners living here, or Indonesian and Filipino guest workers, or anyone else who lives in Taiwan. You seem to suffer quite badly from the disease of jumping to assumptions conjured from some miasmic condition in your own mind.

There is also one other thing that I need to point out to you. It is none of my business who you find attractive, or what you find attractive about them. Likewise, it’s none of your business who or what I find attractive, or anyone’s business who or what anyone else finds attractive. Passing judgment on such things is grossly bad form, and passing disparaging judgment is egregiously ill-mannered. It is an offence that a person of good breeding and social sensitivity would never commit or come close to committing. We are all entitled to be pleased by whomsoever or whatsoever pleases us, and there are no right and wrongs about our choices as long as those choices do not breach the prevailing rules of social morality as enshrined in the law (i.e., no pedophilia, necrophilia, incest, bestiality, et al).

Now I hope that’s clearly understood, and let’s not be having any more of that nonsense from you! Please proceed to mine, enjoy, and make positive contributions to the wealth of information, ideas and discussion that make this site such an excellent resource and place of recreation for Taiwan’s foreign residents, of the past and future as well as the present.

If you’re looking for muck and expect to find it, you’re all but certain to be able to perceive it, whether or not it’s actually there. Don’t you think it might be better to look for good and positive things rather than just the bad and the negative, or at least reserve judgment about what you’re likely to find until you’re actually sure about what there is to pass judgment on? It’s always worked well for me, and I find that it makes me a lot more cheerful.

Apology accepted. Now here’s my hand, and let’s be moving on from this most unfortunate start to your participation in these forums.

I trust that you will enjoy it, and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t if you come here with the right intentions. And though I cannot yet, in all honesty, declare that I’m pleased to make your acquaintance, I trust that before too long I will be able to do so.

Bloody killjoys. Bloody everywhere these days. :fume:

I love manners.

What a load of crap. I know people who have a fetish for fake-tanned, false-titted, blond Californian porn stars. Do you have an article on that?

Personally, I have a foot fetish for amputees. It might sound sick, but most of my sexual partners miss their feet as much as I do.

I feel sexually frustrated in Taiwan and am thinking of moving to Alaska or Siberia where victims of frostbite are statistically superior.

I came for the sex but stayed for the beer.

This response is full of win. Seriously, gold star. I don’t think you’ll see a more colorful response on these boards for about a week. (no sarcasm here)

I think I’m just a bit jaded and cynical of the world these days, and that’s just the nature of my comments. After living in Korea for nearly six years, and speaking only from a matter of experience and personal perspective, I just tend to lean towards the notion that most foreign guys I see here in Asia are trolling for Asian women. That certainly seemed to be the case in Korea, relating to roughly 90% of the guys I met there.

Oh well. To each his own, I suppose.

Not that I can put this accusation to anyone posting here, but personally I think it takes a real douche bag to objectify women based on ethnicity. Personally speaking, I think that article I posted made some very valid points. But whatever.

The point I was trying to make was in relation to the question asked. I noticed that, most of the time, it’s a lot of white men who tend to travel to an Asian country and settle down as English teachers. And yes, most of these white men end up hooking up with an Asian woman. I’ve met quite a few awesome guys who marry into the culture and have families and dig in deep. And yes, I think the guys that do treat Asian women solely as sexual objects to be used as a result of ethnicity/cultural traits are just a bunch of creepy douche bags. (tell me I’m way off base here)

Again, not applying this to anyone here. Just saying. My perspective isn’t worth much when you subscribe to the “live and let live” credo. So I think we can keep that in mind and get along just fine.

Opinions are like assholes, indeed.
