Australian and other census practices

Australia just has indigenous/ resident / citizen or non resident. Race is not mentioned. There is no box to tick saying Asian Australian or African Australian etc. Just Australian citizen or non citizen. Much better really.

What? How does Australia allocate funding?

Do not know what you are asking. Funding for what? Australia has a Federal and State and Territory governments they raise funding through taxation. Most countries are not like the USA and do not class their citizenry by race.

Do you need to know the race of your citizens to allocate funding?

They do ask about place of birth(of parents?) and language spoken at home etc so it’s not like they don’t have any info.

50% of Australians have a parent born outside of Australia.

Minority organizations get funding based on census numbers.

I’m the USA.

That’s why they suppressed the Hispanic category for so long.

That is why you replied to me as you did. You are from a country where it is all about race.

Other countries just list people as permanent residents / citizens and legal temporary residents when it comes to a census. Illegals are not counted. Obama instituted that DACA program. A bad move. Australia has a DACA program. It’s called Deport Another Criminal Alien.

Best thing Australia did to stop illegal immigration was to change where you could enter to claim refugee status or asylum. Australia also in 1986 changed the citizenship law so that a child born in Australia only got citizenship if a parent was a legal permanent resident or citizen. So that also rapidly reduced those wanting to enter Australia on temporary resident visa’s to give birth… USA should go back to issuing citizenship to those born in the USA to legal residents as it did in the past.

Unlike the USA, Australia and other countries do not have boxes to check about your race.

I thought you said the Australian government didn’t ask about race in their census. How did they obtain these percentages?

Where does listing one’s nationality list race pray tell? Can you tell what race Australians or people from the UK are? How about the English PM? He would be counted as English.
What race are Americans?

How about this Scottish National? He would be counted as Scottish.

The census lists peoples origin by nationality not their race ffs. The current Australian foreign minister immigrated from Malaysia. She is counted as an Australian by nationality. Not by her ethnicity.

Ah I see, so these are just figures of foreign residents in Australia?

They don’t have such figures in the US. If you’re a foreigner then you’re a foreigner. Doesn’t matter where you’re from. You’re all FOBs to them.

going back to the way it was would be birthright citizenship for white people, but not asians, blacks, and native americans, rather than for legal residents. that sucks.

How can that be when Australians are included?

Yes lots are dual multiple citizens of other countries as well.

Usually the people who work the hardest earn more money.

We don’t have racist policies that allocate university places, funding etc based on some inaccurate census data and racial prejudice.

LOL, you don’t know anything about the DACA program. DACA is for people who came to the US as kids. They know no country other than the US, it’s not their fault they’re here, and they can’t get good jobs because of their status. All other immigrants have kids who move up faster in society than other Americans.

The US does immigration better than anyone else in the world, from the skilled worker all the way down to the refugee. Canadia has some idiotic point system to attract skilled immigrants, where a bachelor’s degree from Oxford is worth the same as a bachelor’s degree from Craphole National University. America’s H1B visa is employer-sponsored, and is given mostly to foreign students educated in the US, and the USA also leads the world in higher education (that’s a story for another day).

For refugees, Europe gives you a house. US doesn’t give you as much, but refugees still fare better in the states. The US gives you nothing, but the US has church and other volunteer organizations that are often the same ethnicity.

Here’s a good book:

I don’t know about DACA? OK that’s a new one.

It is not entirely true that they only know the USA. Many of them know they came from another country and have memories of where they came from. Not it’s not their fault that like Taiwan Luthiers their parents brought them as illegal immigrants.

You complain that children of immigrants that came legally get better jobs? Oh dear, the outrage.

You have to be joking? If it had a good immigration system then why are over 20 million illegal immigrants living in the USA> Get out of here that the US has a good immigration system. lol
