The second part of Reeve’s muntjac came from a Dutch word muntjak, who borrowed that word from the Sundanese’s mencek /ˈmənt͡ʃək/, meaning small deer. The Pangcah (Amis) people call Reeve’s muntjac mangcel. The PAn word is reconstructed to *sakeC. Wonder if they are at all related.
