My ticket says baggage allowance 30 kg. When i read the rules for turkish airlines, it says maximum 23kg in one bag for economy. Does that mean my allowance is 30 kg but i have to split it between two bags?
Yes, it can be 30kg in two baggages. At least that was the rule two years ago. Better call to confirm.
My experience , yes 30kg in more than one bag. Some airports have health rules for staff on how heavy the bag they can load in the hold.
I’ve been flying with Turkish twice a year to Europe . 23kg checked luggage for economy. If it’s above you have to pay and the max weight for one piece is 32kg .
My ticket(economy flexible) says 30 kg. I just had a chat with an AI. It confirmed that my baggage allowance is 30 kg.
But it couldnt tell me if i have to split it or whether it can be in one.
Ok, can i put it in one bag if i want?
I want to call but it just directed me to some useless AI on WhatsApp.
Edit: just found their phone number in taipei

I am flying with Turkish in two weeks time. My ticket says 30kg.
One bag or two? Or both ok?
Have fun, I’ll be in Istanbul but flying Pegasus. Turkish airlines back to the US
Both as long one does not exceed 32kg on most routes, like EU to TPE.
On some routes they count your allowance as one baggage (piece concept) , not a 30kg allowance but one baggage or maybe two bags if Gold member or bus class, in that case each item should be under 23kilos.
Baggage conditions
- On routes with piece and weight baggage concept, the maximum weight of 1 piece of baggage not more 158 cm in size, is 23 kg for Economy Class and 32 kg for Business Class.
https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/any-questions/free-baggage/ - On routes with piece concept, the maximum weight per bag for economy class is 23kg* (*charges apply if the bag is overweight) and business class is 32kg.
- Regardless of the weight and piece concept, a single piece of baggage cannot exceed 32 KG. Baggage that exceeds 32 KG must be divided and carried in two or more pieces.
I read this.
Sorry guys, but i still think it isn’t clear looking at their rules.
It says piece and weight concept, the max per bag is 23 kg for economy.
For piece concept, it says the max per bag is 23 kg for economy.
32 kg for business.
It doesn’t say anything about what 30 kg for economy means.
Call them? If you let us know that’d be great.

Will do tomorrow. Office hours for their songshan office are Monday to Friday.
One of the reasons i picked Turkish airlines over Emirates was the 30 kg vs 23 kg. But if i have to split it, it would be too much trouble for the Dave household. I only have so many hands.
A smaller suitcase with wheels can be pushed ahead while a larger suitcase can be pulled behind.
It took me a while before figuring out this trick. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Guy
I wont just be pulling and pushing mine.
I see.
I hope you (in the plural) can sort this out.

One bag
OMG. People need strong durable bags now.
Still waiting for the results of @BigDave 's phone call to Turkish Airlines.
