Battle of Nations!

Hello guys!

I just watched a video on youtube, It’s about historical reenactment.

Video link> youtube.com/watch?v=ifVBhKmB … re=related

I think it will be nice if we make something like that in taiwan, since taiwan history is rich in culture. Like chinese, Aboriginal, Japanese, Dutch and Portuguese.

So, any one interested to make something like this?

We form a team, and maybe contact the taiwan government, etc, etc…

Might be good for the tourists, but these re-enactments leave much to be desired in terms of presenting authenticity.

You want to get expedited ?

Why should i get expedited? don’t you think it’s something good for the taiwan culture? shouldn’t they be happy?

I don’t understand why people are being so critical of the OP. Some of you need to loosen your ties and live a little.

Like the OP, I like to dress up and pretend.

I wonder if we could start with a reenactment of the First Time Sandman Got Lucky?

We’d need some period clothing; platform shoes, a rainbow poncho, bell-bottom pants . . . Tainan Cowboy might help us out with that.

But who should play the part of the severe schoolmaster? :ponder:

Would be fun, but I’m not sure where you’d get all the armor/clothing/equipment.

I think we could make our own clothes.

This reenactment stuff looks Awesome! We could DO this, guys!

Not sure if we wanna get the government involved.

Yeah! i think all of us could do this if we work together, after all, taiwan is rich in history…

We can make this event, very big so that lots of people, locals and foreigners in taiwan can join and enjoy this event.

We can feel the daily life in the old times, and we also can have some relaxation while leaving all kind of modernity…

We could ask help to the government that takes care of Cultural things, and maybe some aboriginal people… That’s great isn’t it?

Furthermore, my mandarin teacher is also interested in this things, and he can help us to contact the government…

This skyrim video is way better, it’s more realistic.

If you can do with papier-mache armor and swords, I may be able to help. I know just the guy with the resources needed. Space, materials and connections among aboriginals. I just need a solid project brief.

I think you can buy briefs at any clothing store. The hard part might be the wings.

I nominate elburro to be our leader. It sounds like he’s got some connections.

Let’s try to make this as realistic as possible.

I can probably find the resources and the connections we need, but unfortunately I got no time to lead something like this. I’ll run the idea by the guy I know who can make this happen, and see if he’s interested. If so, I’ll need someone to come up with a 1 page project brief on why this is a good idea, ideal location, examples of reenactments from elsewhere etc.

I’ve no problem with who ever our leader is, and since i live in changhua, my access to Taipei is quite limited (Money, duh!)

If any one of you want to help with this project, i must say thank you very much. All of us can help each other so that we can reach our goal.
I’ll try to help to make the project brief. but i think every one should give their opinions, the more options we have, the better it is…

Thank you very much.

What is “First time sandman got lucky”?

“First Time Sandman Got Lucky” is the title of our first reenactment. At least if that’s OK with the others.

elburro?

I agree with mvrofiq; we must all help each other so that we can reach our goal. :discodance:

I’m kinda busy right now, though, so maybe I should be the Ideas Guy.

Okay with me. Can we make JimiP the one he got lucky with???

Don’t think recorded history goes that far back?

Okay with me, too, but Gingerman is a real stickler for authenticity. We want to make this as realistic as we can.

If we can’t find someone better than Jimi by Tuesday, I say we go with Jimi.

elburro’s got the final say on this; I’m just throwin’ out ideas here.

Okay Okay. Just make sure Sandy is in a kilt and all that.

I think this is an awesome idea. had a pal here who was into medieval reenactments in the States, I’ve always wanted to do that.

There was someone who posted about cosplay recently, can’t find the post, but I guess it could be useful to enlist them, regarding costumes and stuff like props. I’ll have a look at the fake gun shops to see if they have any interesting rifles, I’m sure I’ve seen fascinating knives and swords and such.

Maybe the government would not be a good idea but I bet the Netherlands and Spain representations would be most interested, even the Mexican -la nao de Manila.
