It was drinkable. I wouldn’t rate it high, but for that price…
Can anyone reccomend any local craft brews? (Local meaning Taiwan wide)
Sunmai, for example amber or honey Lager.
Where did you buy it?
Personally find Sunmai at bit too weak.
Enjoy Redpoint (disco macau, platypus), Taihu (IPA) and… AL13 (Osthmantus Rhapsody).
Latter is hard to find (some Taipei craft beer places like Tsai Taproom or Learn Bar fex), but well worth seeking out.
AL13 is the bomb. They have a red out right now that rocks my world.
@DogmaticStoic I recommend you download Untappd to learn about your local brew choices.
I have a Jason’s near me, they had the imperial ales and stouts but now all sold out. Left with very overpriced Taiwanese craft beer and Belgian beer etc…140,150…180…200nt…No. I am not paying that for 330ml bottle of beer from a supermarket
the Tokyo ipa was at 7”11
I am not a fan of dark beers but I tried it and it was quite good indeed.
Two recommendations for those of you in the south of the island.
浪人酒造 Surfer Brewery
新田路76號 Xin Tian Rd Kaohsiung
Great bar to hangout and a good range of its own brews. The Toasted Coconut Porter is worth the trip.
拾捌樓的小酒場 Sparrow Brewing Co
國華街三段3號 Guo Hua St Tainan
A wide selection of their own craft beers. A well designed and relaxing space. The NEIPA, Smoked Lager and Single IPA were nicely brewed and the price point was an unexpected surprise for craft beer in Taiwan.
Alert me this
Out of curiosity
Why is it that you can go to a convenience store and get a discount if you buy two or three at once and then 1 hour later go to same store nearby maybe even visible from the same location and they don’t have discount?
7-Eleven for example
I’m still just drinking BAR 90% of the time. Good price, easy going, works fine.
Probably won’t see these in Taiwan but can still go to the website and register.
Does the golden can contain beer that doesn’t taste like piss?
The Street reports that on Feb. 21, Budweiser will then randomly-select one winner that will take home the $1 million prize.
That’s cheap.
Huh. Magic Rock Brewing, available in Carrefour, has a Fantasma Gluten Free India Pale Ale.
Consider this either a suggestion for where you can get gluten-free beer, or a warning to read the small print when just randomly grabbing a variety of cans off the shelf because you know the brewery is decent, and it’s on special.
I’m sure it’ll be fine.
Call me a legume maybe, but not a nut, because this Peanut Beer by Taiwan Head Brewers is really nice and unique in the right way. They even have their own glass.

I also saw this in Tainan this weekend at a bottle shop called Belgian beer
Actually the store was full of interesting beer
