I screwed up. It’s called Focoso
It is here.
Nice, been thrice, recently.
Nice seafood soup, spaghetti, great ravioli.
Casanova Osteria & Bar
So I’m really enjoying different things from the menu at Salto Pizzeria Napoletana. Yesterday, everything we ordered was fantastic.
Nice looking meal! The soup alone is making me want to pay a visit . . .

Mushrooms and grains. The soup really was excellent.
Has anyone tried 黑馬小廚 (Heyma Restaurant)? The pics look great.
The fish tagu looks interesting. I might try this place next weekend.
it all depends which actual Italian cuisine you want and the price range.
You have quite a nice selection nowadays. From Piemonte to Sicily and Sardinia included!
Which shops, may I ask, are doing good work with these cuisines?
Guy
Domo de Sardinia for Sardinian, Sicilian not a restaurant per se unfortunately, but dispersed in several restaurants you can find some Sicilian dishes, like one of the folks at Black Pepper is from Sicily and they make good Arancin* (i/e, depends which part of the island you r from, and it is a fight on how to call them haha)
The one chance I have had to eat food by a Sicilian chef in Taipei was when Angelo Aglianò was here, first as the head chef at the Robuchon restaurant in Xinyi and then at his (for me) beloved shop in the East District, Angelo’s. At Angelo’s: that may have been the very best food I have had in Taiwan—full stop. I miss that guy!

he moved to HK and opened an incredible place, Locanda dell’angelo.
Can you cook, @Mataiou ? FYI, there’s not a good Italian restaurant in Hualien, for example. Decent American pizza but no good Italian restaurant. (Okay, I’m just being selfish because I visit Hualien often!)
@Mataiou may be able to cook—but as he takes on Taiwan’s banking regulators, he has other fish to fry!

I do love to cook, my specialities r risottos, but I also make good pastas and I love to grill (Italian Style, so we go very natural, only meat over the charcoal grill, light seasoning to taste the beast itself).

that, and this new EMBA course I started last week, it is heavier than I expected, seeing again things which haunted me during my universities years…

There would be room for an Italian barbecue place in Taipei. Grilled meat on and seafood on skewers paired with good wine. Maybe someday after your studies.
(Disclaimer: Not sure about the authenticity of these pictures. Pouring beer in the top picture? Probably not Italian.)
Although local trends vary from year to year, the bbq scene is slowly becoming more and more a melting pot of method and technique. Basting is part of the routine, but would love to hear what is the current buzz in the Mediterranean is as well.
There actually is a place specialised in Italian style grilled meats: Fumo, near the new Taipei dome.
Haven’t tried, but I know the owner, he had a place in tianmu (never been there either).
Mentioned positively by @Mataiou in another thread, this place was reviewed in today’s Taipei Times (good to see them finally returning to some food reviews):
Bringing Taiwan to the World and the World to Taiwan
Since I have not been, I cannot say it is the “best” as the thread title indicates. But it is a place I’d like to check out.
