Best James Bond Movie Ever

Never did it for me at all. Looks like a man.

never got to her face

Sean Connery is by far my favorite actor to play 007, but On Her Majestyā€™s Secret Service is my favorite bond movie of the series. It just finds the right balance in combining the good aspects of a bond movie without going over the top or missing anything. George Lazenby wasnā€™t terrible, but as others have pointed out, he had massive shoes to fill as the second Bond after Sean Connery.

You what? Including Naomie Harris? If you only remember her from Pirates of the Carribbean, you might have a mistaken impression. :snooty: Sheā€™s not classically attractive, I guess, but she has presence.

For some bizarre reason though, I have a thing about women with wide-set eyes.

As for Grace Jones ā€¦ has it ever been proven thatā€™s sheā€™s actually female? Or human? OTOH, for that particular character (May Day), Iā€™d say that was inspired casting.

Ah, that explains a hell of a lot. I was surprised it came out so soon after Casino Royale - they didnā€™t have to rush it. Better to keep people in suspense, surely.

Iā€™ve seen the trailer and some interviews. My assessment of her still stands. If they put an ad out saying ā€œhot black chick required for Bond movieā€ youā€™re telling me thatā€™s the best they could do? Surely they could just look at the Miss [Caribbean nation] representatives from the past half dozen international beauty pageants. Or they could have gone with Zoe Saldana or Thandie Newton. I just had a quick look on imdb.com and there are tons of much hotter black actresses, e.g. Selita Ebanks, Denise Vasi, April Betts, Bianca Lawson.

Thatā€™s quite a list you have there. Very conscientious research

Freema Agyeman maybe?

Daniel craig had the best muscles. Pierce brosnan had the best hair. Sean connery was manliest.

There.

Well as far as black and beautiful is concerned, I canā€™t stand Halle Berry either. I have no clue what makes her ā€˜hotā€™ except that she is extremely diabetic and has a small small small body for a black woman. I think men are like women too, they believe what mags and glossies and socialites tell them.

Best JB movie ever? Itā€™s a tough call. The problem is that of course Connery was the best bond, but were the movies really that good? They were pretty goofy actually.

I think the best way is to do the best ones by actor first and then rate the overall movie.

Best Connery Bond films: Iā€™d say from Russia with Love, You Only Live Twice and Goldfinger. The first one is actually almost an intelligent movie at times. The interaction between Bond and Grant is actually not goofy at all. For Connery, the acting is quite good. You Only Live Twice is kind of like Golden Gun but with Connery. Goldfinger is great except too over the top. But still, it just works.

Lazenby: Pffft!

Moore: Live and Let Die and The Man with the Golden Gun: What a romp. Christopher Lee as Scaramanga is great, and I LOVE Mooreā€™s wardrobe. Itā€™s kind of like Van De Merwe wins the lottery. Solitaire is great, as is Yaphet Ono. Add crocs, the coolest movie motorboat chase in cinema, soul brothers, Solitaire, voodoo and Paul McCartney and woooweee!

Dalton: The Living Daylights: heā€™s a very good Bond, but looks too much like a human Wile Coyote.

Craig: Casino Royale: Probably the best, but on the shoulders of giants.

My pics: Top three: You Only Live Twice, Live and Let Die, and Casino Royale. They are the coolest, and if JB is not cool, what is he?

I think they were supposed to be. Moore understood that - he basically spent the whole of every movie just taking the piss, but he did it so well you didnā€™t notice.

:roflmao: I knew he reminded me of someone! They should have included that line somewhere in one of the scripts.

Personally I think itā€™s the hair thatā€™s the problem. It has an existence all of its own.

It was the 80s. His hair was tame compared to a lot going around that decade.

Very insightful Big John :notworthy: , The only thing missing from your critique of LALD (and later Golden Gun) is a mention of Sheriff JW Pepperā€¦

ā€œYou picked the wrong parish to haul ass through boy. Nobody cuts and runs on Sheriff J.W Pepperā€

I like the tie in between Live and Let Die and The Man With the Golden Gun.

ā€œA secret agent? On whose side?ā€

ā€œYouā€™re that English secret agent, from England.ā€

Something like that. He was an awesome minor character.

ā€œIf you pointy heads got our of your peeeeeee-jamas, you might not be late for work!ā€ Classic line.

I forgot to mention JW, but didnā€™t forget him! How could you?

Well said! Craig did have a pretty buff figure in CR, def the most muscular of the Bond actors. Brosnan was very handsome indeed (kinda gotten old by DAD though). To quote Blaquesmith, Connery IS Bond.

Slightly off topic, but ya know who Iā€™d loved to have seen carry the torch after Brosnan retired? Ewan McGregor. Smooth, handsome and is the ultimate professional when it comes to role dedication (a quick googling on his trainspotting photos youā€™ll know what Iā€™m talking about).

Obi Wan? I donā€™t think so.

Growing up watching Bond I guess I always liked the fact that Bond wasnā€™t ridiculously muscled or super-hard (e.g. like Daniel Craigā€™s bond). Bond to me was always just cooler, more sophisticated, had better gadgets, was better with women & was more resourceful than the bad guys. This, rather than just being hard as nails always got him out of trouble.

This is something we can all aspire to, regardless of how likely it is to ever come true.

Hence I always liked Connery or Roger Moore over later more action-man style bonds and to me why the bond films were better off being different to the Bourne films or the Arnie films etc.

Not fair. NO ONE looked good in that mess.

OK, Chris Lee looked good, but he just played Chris Lee so that doesnā€™t really count. And Iā€™m afraid I disagree about Samuel Jackson in that film.

Wasnā€™t there a rumour somewhere that Idris Elba could be a future Bond? Or was that just someoneā€™s fantasy?
