@Aikaili we should add this to our to-try pizza list. Name is dumb, but the pies look right.
I do respect him, he works hard and his pizzas are good (albeit very particular), however man, getting to eat there and all the rules…
It’s a fucking pizza for Christ’s sake… There are way better pizza experiences in town, less stiff, more easy going, and the taste not any worse!
I hate places like that.
What are the rules? No pineapple on pizza? I can respect that.
Like need to book weeks in advance, pay a deposit, set menu, very strict dining times. If you cancel for whatever reason within 3 days of the booking, u lose the money.
Like man, chill off, that’s not hospitality anymore imho. I just want a fucking pizza.
Yup, went to Pizza Has a Face on a riverside bike ride a day or two after I posted the above. Quite enjoyed it! Perhaps my only issue, and it’s a weird thing to complain about, is that I found it too large for one person. I still ate everything, but it was a sluggish bike ride home.
Oh haha yeah I think they’re meant to be shared, my wife and I usually share one when we go. Too bad slice shops aren’t very common.
Wow, how about no.
There’s not such a thing as a too big (good) pizza.
I do tend to agree this direction of running a business, being something higher class than guilty pleasure food, is a bit of an issue in Taiwan. Be it price, boss entitlement/lack of professionalism etc etc. It turns me right off as well. I don’t mind prebooking and a deposit to be honest. Lots of shitty customers around too that don’t show up, I get that struggle!
However, of all the logistics problems in the food industry, especially the service side, pizza remains a very easy one all things considered. Simple ingredients that just need a wash, cut and bake. Doesnt get more simple than that. In terms of an owner run shop, I find pizza are more akin to coffee shop style psychologies than restaraunts proper in taiwan. That is to say: ultra entitled. Once I realized that, the pizza frustration went away immediately ![]()
I feel the same way as @DogmaticStoic . It’s better to share a pie with a friend.
For a similar experience but with pizza sold by the slice, I now frequent Under the Bridge over near Guanghua Market.
Guy
I agree, i often enjoy sharing a steak and kidney pie with my friends. But still, keep it on topic pls this is a thread about pizza.
There’s a restaurant that this reminds me of exactly. The food was good. Damn good. But I think once is enough.
Pizza is never shared.
Hear hear, pizza is a very personal thing for us Italians.
Americans like pizza more than Italians ![]()
I am burning my phone and cancelling my phone plan as I type. The world is an ugly place and ppl r scary. Also, taking out my eyes.
