Best way to deliver package to the UK?

Hello,

Which is the best company to send to the UK?

I tried sending two parcels – and apparently there is a 2KG limit? Which seems a bit stupid. Tried using at the standard post office. But apparently that is true of DHL too?

Does anybody have a suggestion of a courier or delivery service which would be able to send them? They are between 2kg and 3kg in weight, so not hugely heavy or bulky.

It’s a rule I didn’t even know existed. Edit: Apparently its a UK import rule? Very confusing–surely boxes over 2KG get imported all the time. It’s hardly a massive weight …

Thanks

Post office: you can log in to Post office website and use registered package and then print it out.

UPS is bit expensive.

If UK - you need to lower your invoice value.

Is that true for larger packages? They didn’t mention that at the post office at all. Just said to make it lighter.

I am not seeing an option on Taiwan’s post office website for registered package. I click on postage services and it doesn’t bring that up as an option or delivering abroad.

Ok, I checked the website and a bit of info – it says postage limit is 30kg …

So I have no idea what the goat behind the counter was whittling on about that it needs to be lighter

EZPost郵寄便網站 form to fill out.

If I’m not mistaken the parcel service to the UK from the Post Office here is currently suspended due to covid.

From the Post Office website:

I posted a letter to the UK a few weeks ago and even that was a bit of an ordeal to explain to the guy that it was actually allowed!

Which would account for the 2kg limit.

well … balls

That is a giant annoyance.

Last 2wks ago they don’t accept EMS to UK - they want my package to change to registered parcel.

If PO is not good then you need to dispatch it via UPS or DHL

Cheers

bit of a mess really. If suspended, then why didn’t she say that instead of a 2kg limit–which was just confusing. UPS and DHL has really exotorionate pricing, so I’d rather avoid them, but there may be no choice.

So, why aren’t inbound deliveries suspended too? I have had a few packages arrive from China with no worries.

… If I hadn’t known better and been persistent, I would have left the post office convinced that there was absolutely no way on earth to send a letter to the UK. “Mei banfa, mei banfa…next” Had to actually get my phone out and show him the above image and translate the text. Never ceases to amaze me. You’d think if one service is suspended he’d have considered a possible workaround/alternative, but nope. Not interested.

I shouldn’t be surprised.

I have noticed while living here, the further along the line of government and related agencies you go, the more and more clueless and careless the staff are until at the end (those dealing with the public) have zero idea.

Doubly so if you’re a foreigner and they can’t be arsed because of the language difficulties.

It’s not the first time I’ve had issues with sending abroad—a few years ago I sent to the UK. I said UK about a dozen times … she marked it Ukraine.

Then when I said England, that was apparently correct ---- it was going to Scotland. But England got it there.

Yep.

Rule of thumb: whenever anyone says: “Mei banfa”, there usually is a “banfa” …if they could actually be arsed.

I received a package from Taiwan to UK last week. Under 2kg about 1kg Chunghwa post.
Took 7 days.
Try another branch to send or ask to see manager. Mine was sent from one in Daan district.

I’m going to try sending one other way today.

Sending a package to the UK (under 2kg) is possible.

The post (letters) to the uk was suspended for a while but it’s been back to normal for a few months. I sent Xmas cards for 15NT each today.

In fact, I was told that my one to Canada would arrive after Xmas, but I don’t believe it. Taiwan is so quick with these things…

Same, we’ve received two packages this week. Under 2kg though.

I’ve posted a parcel to Taiwan today 974grams $ntd816!
Wonder how long will take?

I’ll try and lower the weight by removing packaging–they are 2kg and 2.5kg, so it is possible that they can be lowered–or even split into multiple packages.

Figured I’d update this in case anyone else is consdering trying to send a parcel to the UK–don’t. Even getting the weight under 2KG they still couldn’t send it because they are only sending letters at the moment.
