Brexit

Shouldn’t that be compared to the EU as a whole?

Coz ov brexit innit.

More workers would have resulted in higher wages?

The point of Brexit, or how it was sold, was that supposedly it would be great for the average British citizen. With the huge wage drop for British workers compared to the workers in G7 countries, clearly this is not the case. Should be obvious to even the maddest UKIPer.

The point of Brexit was to leave the EU.
The problem is the clowns in government or those behind the scenes not wanting it to succeed as it does not fit with their desire for mass centralization or corporate socialism - look at the Great Reset.

Back when he was a leftie and the left in the UK were not taken in by trinkets from technocrats in the EU or then EEC.

How would having more foreign labor make wages higher? The fact that wages are lower doesn’t prove any counter factual.

Do you guys really believe Brexit has anything to do with what’s going on in the UK. Like being in the EU would make it better or not being in the EU would make it better.

After living here, I’ve come to realized this hell hole has nothing to do with being part of or not part of the EU so both the brexit and anti brexit crowd are delusional on what’s going on here.

How anyone can stand a long winter of rain or a hot summer with no AC just to drive to their shit house attached to other peoples house to enjoy what they call as “back yard” smaller than what prisoners get to enjoy.

Maybe you can save up and buy a nice car just to regret it as it gets fucked up from the shit roads the council does nothing about as you drive past 1 star hygiene rated kebob/pizza/Chinese/fish and chips shops (all combined into 1 place and I’m not joking). Maybe I can try my luck at one of 50 gambling holes here to make it big and out of here.

After I walk out to see a bunch of drunks stumbling out the one of 50 pubs that smell like piss and puke. Watching some overweight British woman who is just full of confidence and letting all her stuff hang out hold her friends hair and she pukes all over the street. Ahh yes and some chavs pick up half smoked fags off the street like he won the lottery.

Watching the council steal money from me just to give to my unemployed neighbors with 10 kids with 5 different dads just to hear them complain about their life and how they can’t wait to go on one of those gross all inclusive holidays where they serve you chicken nuggets (a staple food of British people since childhood apparently).

I’m sure being in the EU or out of the EU is really the issue here.

I also don’t get the immigration issue. The problem is clearly not EU immigrants here. They are for the most part skilled and cultured. This country gets the worst lot of immigrants from places that none of us would even dare to live in and they bring their way of life here.

Nothing’s stopping British workers from crawling on their hands and knees back to their former overlords in Brussels and begging to be allowed to submit to their authority again. Apparently the way Brussels is behaving post-Brexit has revealed its true colors though.

And my god. As an employer the local talent is awful. Doesn’t matter how much I pay over the market wage it seems. One of the most undereducated and entitled bunch I’ve ever seen. It’s been ridiculously hard to find people to do basic work that don’t bitch and moan when we offer a lot of benefits. Finally found some but had to go through a few to get to them.

I’d take EU talent over a lot of the local talent any day. At least they come here to make a better life and work hard.

I also forget it mention a bunch of gypsies broke into the park next to us again and set up camp. These people keep saying people discriminate against them and they keep trashing places and camp out. I literally had no bias against them until I came here to see what they’re about. The worst is people who actually defend them as decent. I’ve seen enough.

Yes. I’m grumpy tonight. Just got back to the UK and it’s 30c at night with no AC.

I got stopped at immigration because their system didn’t recognize my residence card because apparently of “Covid” delays. It’s been 3 fucking years. How long is this government going to blame Covid for their laziness and incompetence?

How is this one of the richest countries in Europe anyways. Where’s all the money🧐. People here live so poorly compared to even poor European countries and yet on paper it’s one of the wealthiest.

People keep complaining about off shore tax havens. Do you blame them? Why should I pay taxes and contribute to this? I pay into the NHS just to have them laugh at me when I tried to use it once because no one actually gets to use it unless you’re dead. Like literally dead for them to see you and it’s too late. Nice :+1:t2:

I thought I at least take comfort that Boris is leaving. But then I realize one is just worse than the next from both parties.

How many times do I need to fool myself into thinking paying more for organic and “high quality” fruits and vegetables will be different just to realize it makes no difference here. They have no taste. Literally none. If you blind folded me and made me try to figure out what vegetables I was eating I couldn’t tell you. But at least there are amazing rhubarb here apparently :face_vomiting:

Proudly made in the UK :uk: = this shit will fall apart soon. Listening to people talk about how Jags are amazing seeing their giant panel gaps is killing me.

I’m going to need another drink and I don’t really drink. FML. I understand why people drink so much here every day.

This sums up the media here.

Time to set up shop in the EU. No one in the UK will work for 8 quid an hour and take shit. Any chance of getting a Taiwanese kid over there? They will work for 25 000 nt a month and you can make them do illegal overtime. They might get some ideas from the locals so best not to give them too much free time to mingle.

Honest question: Would you work for what you want to pay the bad local workers?

Agree with most of this, but the living poorly is relative. By the sounds of it, you are in a right shit area. As you should know, you can go from a shithole to a beautiful area within five minutes in the UK. How did you decide where to live?

If you accept a job do your best. If you don’t think the pay is worth it don’t accept the job. That’s just me anyway.

This is funny. While there is some truth, coming from a Taiwanese guy makes me laugh. Shit houses attached to other people’s houses? I bet the wealthy don’t live like that. In Taiwan, millionaires live like that.

1 star hygiene rated? I went to buy fried rice yesterday but as I walked towards the stand down the alley, I saw the owner. Thought he was on a phone call. He was taking a piss on the street. No hands washed when he went back. I ate a 7 11 sandwich.

Small yards? This is funny.

Betting shops? Have you seen how many lottery shops there are here now?

I agree with a lot of your points. The UK is going downhill fast. But you need to move to a better area to see a different perspective.

Yes, of course, but he was previously complaining about them not wanting to take on more responsibility. So that is him paying a low wage and expecting them to take on more and more.

If they quit because they think it isn’t worth it after being hired, what is wrong with that? Should they struggle just to prove how good of a worker they are while he is banking money and planning to move out the UK?

If they are taking the piss and being lazy, he can get rid of them easily in the first two years.

Massive underclass in the UK. If you want to hire them because they are cheap, you have to deal with them. If you want better workers, pay more. Just because you think the wage is good, doesn’t mean shit.

I think that’s globally with the “new generation” of local talent. Same in the U.S.
Feel entitled to demand the general manager’s job after maybe a few months.
Most college-age roughly people cannot hold a part-time job for more than a few months.
I know, because my wife has a Cantonese friend who runs a bo-bo tea shop, and her employees are like a revolving door every few months. No one has stamina to hold onto a job.

When I was young, worked 18 months at a Dairy Queen-type fast-food restaurant before I could even drive a car, and then when I had a car, I worked another 18 months at a supermarket.
My generation had it input into our brains that it looks bad on resume if you keep switching jobs every 6 months (i.e., not reliable, responsible). This new generation takes that as their mantle.
