having gone through a few countries now in a group, having Burger King in each including Taiwan.
wow…burger can truly go F itself. even subway with its half real chicken and dolphin tuna can trump the absolute puck out of Burger King any day. even when the burger there looks ok, its trashed by improper bread texture, trashy sauces and basically piss poor appeal.
I dont get how they are expanding here. and they cost more than McDonalds. but to be fair, mcdonalds was trying to find new management for Taiwan. perhaps basic consistency standards are toi difficult? or? either way, Burger King is literally TRASH here. and I will say the same for them in general at least in malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, taiwan, HK, USA, Canada… trash.
actual trash.
did I mention, they are shit?
oh, ya…also expensive for that shit. on par with countryside unaffiliated breakfastshop burger slop. total crap. at least it’s only 50nt at the breakfast shop, not 200+
Ok, I am waiting for the differences from country to country, could be interesting.
Umm so, anywhere in any country Burger King is not actual trash?
Not sure I disagree with you anyway, I like the extra veggies in a Whopper, but that seems to be the only item on the menu I like and Im not actually sure I Iike it anyway.
I would also say the BK in Taiwan is substandard. Especially the prices are over the top for what you get. Their burgers here are on the smaller size. But shrinkflation trend might have hit other countries, that I am not aware of yet.
In Germany BK is pretty good and can compete with McD. Not in Taiwan.
I think that’s basically fair. the whopper has some fresh stuff with crunch, but their menu seems mostly squishy and sauce laced. I found the bread was the bigger difference between say Taiwan and thai/malaysia. there its hit or miss. here itseem ed more consistent. I mean still shitty, but it’s fairly obvious the logistics in taiwan are hard to beat so its not evena competition. the beef is pretty hard, old and shitty in Thailand (we were south, phuket and adjecent) and malaysia was similar but more greesy. prices ranged a lot. the vegetables were more or.less wilted, over mature and not amazing. but that seems a bit picky, after all we are at Burger King not anywhere halfway decent.
leaving taiwan and entering the family stopped as well. kaohsiung city, air ports, taipei city and taoyuan. clearly a staff issue, which I find common in Taiwan that is to say, they are worth being fired. the burgers were smooshed, crooked, sauce all over everywhere (too much as well) and the wait times were normally 20 minutes give or take.
I think it’s all bad, but if I have to be honest about eating trash burgers, there is a reason mcdonalds is winning here. at least in comparison.
Ya, I have seen a number opening up around Taiwan too. quite amazed really, given their prices and their truly terrible burgers. sadly I am in groups and go there once or twice a month to different locations for quick eat n meets. squashed, squishy, sauce soaked bread with sad looking meat and more often than not no veggie to add a fresh crispy feel. the whopper seems better than most, but they are frankly quite sad too. I assume the flame grilled is technically right, as in a flash flame from gas. but it’s quite misleading as well. the pictures and reality are like doraemon vs hello kitty.
I have a feeling the expansion of Burger King might actually be boosting McDonalds sales…
Butlrger king really is really terrible food. Taiwan local breakfast shop level in my taste. And quite expensive for what they are…it used to make sense they started disappearing. Don’t really understand the come back.
My apologies. I must admit, I kowtowed to the western slop market on this forum. Truth be told, the local fare I find easily better than burger King as well. Forgive me for my sin! Now we can stand united in the taiwanese burger being better than burger King front! I will admit, I was not man enough to stand alone on this fight in this battlefield. Preach brother!
Oh you meant those terrible breakfast hamburger places. OK then attack away. Those suck! I thought you meant my local danbing shop. I’d much rather eat there than dine at the King, where I have not had positive experiences.
Having been in Europe last month and having had a rather surprisingly good meal in an airport Burger King I made the mistake of visiting a Taipei BK today. After wading through the menu of items I definitely did not want and finally finding the Whopper (isn’t that their supposedly signature dish?!) I then paid attention to what the cashiers were repeating to every single customer, they have no fries. Upon enquiry, this is apparently a Taiwan wide shortage and it will be a couple of days before BK Taiwan can provide their crappy fries. Had some sort of “spicy” potato things instead, don’t recommend. Other option is onion rings, or do what I should have done - leave.
