xD
I just saw lots of news of Chinese vessels and jets “around” the island this week, but without specifying their routes.
Funny because I’ve heard several times these days what I thought would be jet fighters. I guess the ones I heard weren’t Chinese but Taiwanese, but I did think of our friends the fucking Chinese.
Does anybody know if the specifics were publish somewhere?
The recent rhetoric on all sides has been to play to you home audience while globalization crumbles and a new era of international geopolitics shapes up. Nobody is match fit and some are aging into a death spiral. Pray for leaders that can adapt and not lead us into world war 3 and the stone age again.
Where do you see that happening? The supply chain is shifting, sure. All I see are new contacts being made. Globalization is fine as wine. Chile is going into business by itself I hear. Trade routes are being redrawn. It’s not necessarily bad news.

That’s rich coming from the country notorious for the world’s worst tourists… yeah, lots of quality in the punks carving their name into Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, and the country bumpkins throwing copper coins into a 747 jet engine for good luck before a flight.
Ah yes. Definitely not foreshadowing. Must fill former soviet nations with hope and an ever-increasing love for China.
A report from CNN. On the plus side, this latest diplomatic offensive (emphasis on “offensive”) likely helps to kneecap Macron’s fantasy foray into Beijing’s orbit.

His argument is that there weren’t international treaties for these ex-Soviet states to exist based on international law. He seems to have forgotten two things.

Russia promised to protect Ukraine if all nuclear weapons are transferred back to Russia in the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances, which includes an article where Russia guarantees to Respect the signatory’s independence and sovereignty in the existing borders.

There aren’t any international treaties that gives either Chinas the sovereignty of Taiwan. Cairo and Postdam were merely declarations. The actual transfer of sovereignty would have to go through the UN trusteeship and the process of self-determination of the Taiwanese people.
More fun-and-games from China, this time implicating a businessman from Australia who was detained in China and is now facing charges of “reckless foreign interference” down under. What an unpleasant mess.

The second joint Russian, Chinese patrol close to Alaskan islands since last year. This time around the US had a much better response. Also, I’m going start watching more CNN.
Good job, China! You helped bring these guys together.

There were protests against Japan in the early oughts when I was there as well. This is a more sensible distraction from the economy for the party than invading Taiwan
I thought about the BRICS thread for this one
The charm offensive (with emphasis on “offensive”) continues.

This is kind of an old story now, I clicked to see if there was anything new
I’m sharing now because I clicked on the map to have a closer look, and it went to the Global Times Twitter post, and the replies are hilarious
Austin Wang nails it.
PRC just had its biggest drill near Taiwan in recent months with NO US House chair visiting TW, no new weapon deal, no TW president passing by California, AND KMT visiting the US, AND Taiwan just allowed Chinese visitors and students. WHO is the troublemaker in Taiwan strait?

Looking at this list, I wonder if this is why more toys are being thrown out of the tram now.
But really who knows what the excuse is this time. They can always find a reason if they want one.

Its probably the meeting between Wang Yi and Sullivan, where Wang Yi warned US to stay out of Taiwan issue
Absolutely dont think its anything to do with KMT in US, or that the CCP care that much about the KMT
I suspect that more of these drills increases the likelihood that Beijing helps elect an anti-Beijing candidate in 2024.
It’s almost like they can’t help themselves.
