Clubbing in Taipei -- what to bring?

No. We need to stand our ground and record.

My wife just laughs at me… I got married and got a BOSS at home to supplement the 3 bosses i got at work.

I am temporarily somewhat on a holiday as the missus is in indonesia for a few weeks

No shorts or flip flops.

I don’t think this is really the case in all my time clubbing.

Why is the clubs great fun if you’re a guy? Is there any chance some random girls will start grinding me?

Just dress stylish, feel confident and comfortable. Some girls dress like cheap prostitutes and it seems like it is considered acceptable for some reason.

Bring cash or make sure your brother got some. Have a card with your address somewhere safe, when you are too drunk to speak let the taxi driver have the card.

Because Taiwan clubs are good fun.

Terrible music, but often all you can drink bars.

Plus, as a guy, others guys won’t harass you.

Terrible music, cheap alcohol and no girls? Fun?

You obviously don’t frequent gay clubs.

Glad it’s obvious .

To my surprise, gay men tend to be really respectful in gay clubs if you’re not gay. They can tell and don’t do anything ime.

This is true. I have been hit on a few times in gay clubs, but never aggressively.

This is surprising to hear since gay guys are usually notorious rapists with no social awareness, unlike “regular” guys

I hope you’re not aiming that at me. I spent my teen years frequenting gay bars, because they were way cool. For my first few years in Taiwan, I spent every Friday and Saturday night at Fresh. I felt welcome and safe.

No one said anything about rape. Guys hit on girls aggressively in the club and can be creeps all the time being too touchy feely.

That’s probably not going to get you anywhere, or will possibly get you a good kicking.

Good enough to give them a big thumbs-down on every website they’re listed on. People do read negative reviews. They matter.

then i will take the kicking. Its documentation of the xenophobia and discrimination. We deserve this and i do not fear their thuggish violence.

This isn’t for Youtube. It is for lawmakers. How can we criminalise this behaviour if we have no ‘evidence’ of its existence then we can’t enact change.

Well, rather you than me

If I come across a business that delivers shit service - for whatever reason - I’ll just pan them on TripAdvisor or whatever.

Perhaps I was being a bit too sensitive. However, I often end up biting my tongue when I so often hear comments that insinuate gay people are something other than simply humans who prefer the same sex. When it finally becomes too much I might spout off at someone who doesn’t deserve it. My apologies.

There is a difference between shit service and systemic discrimination.

It has only been up until recently that at least one or two telcos has allowed foreigners to join without guarantors.

What’s the point of ‘taking your business elsewhere’ if other businesses feel empowered to do the same thing? This shouldn’t be more than a single shit review by a foreigner representing 0.2% of the population.

Shit service to an individual is shit service.

Bigotry is beyond unacceptable.
