CNN Analyst Accuses David Webb of White Privilege. Webb is Black

Let’s not forget that milk makes coffee less black. Whoever pretends to ignore this is not sincere.

Nope.

Article below written by a black person.
Has a number of valid points from his perspective.
His background: Chigozie Obioma is the author of The Fishermen, which won an NAACP Image Award and was a finalist for the 2015 Man Booker Prize. A 2015 FP Global Thinker, he is a professor of literature and creative writing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Black elites and activists across the world have adopted a culture of verbal tyranny in which they shut down any effort to reason or criticize us or black-majority nations by labeling such attempts as “racism” or “hate speech.” Thus, one can be certain that any suggestions that our race may indeed need to do something to remedy our situation will not be aired — not by the terrified people of other races. And anyone within our race who makes such a suggestion will be deemed weak and pandering or a sellout

Black elites should allow for self-criticism and soul-searching and for the restoration of the Pan-Africanist movement with an eye toward building sustainable black nations. We must come to realize that to a great extent the fate of the black man in America is inextricably linked to that of his brother in Africa. Although largely unacknowledged in American political discourse, Jim Crow ended in part because of the African Independent movements.

As long as we continue to ignore Africa’s continuous wallowing in senseless poverty and destructive failures, as long as the Congolese or the Haitian remains the poster child for poverty and lack, we will remain undignified. As long as we continue to ignore our own self-assessment and soul-searching, we will remain the undignified race.

I generally agree with affirmative action but I feel like it should be based on family income.

Though in the end the result probably wouldn’t be too different.

I think he did a good job playing the role. Maybe TOO good, since so many people seem to have taken him seriously!

I just read that @brasd was considered officially a troll? Not that I didn’t think of it, but you can never be sure… not nowadays. After all he was echoing some of the voices you can even hear at universities and from most political parties nowadays. I think he genuinely believes in positive discrimination (what he called proactive discrimination) but at some point he decided that you all are a bunch of suckers and started to pull your legs. Same as @Brianjones and his laughable claims about Catalonia being oppressed by a fascist Spain because after a few years of crisis and propaganda the pro independence movement finally got like 47% of the parliament (which is actually like 40% in terms of voters) and these released a ridiculous video copied from a Ukrainian one xD

I thought you guys were talking about shareholder rights activist David Webb and got confused because that David Webb is white.

Jury’s out, I think. I agree with Mick’s assessment that he’s being genuine. I thought he was trolling at first, but read on. He’s going above and beyond to try and justify it. I don’t think anybody’s buying what he’s selling, mind you.

@Brianjones, a troll? everything makes sense now

Yes, I believe African Americans from impovershed areas who get a good grade or maybe a little lower should be given a place at a top university instead of someone coming from a privileged background who has had through fortune of being born into a rich functioning family the benefit of thousands of hours of private tuition.
If people wish to put up white power symbols or make jokes about drinking milk because I believe that then go ahead but don’t cry discrimination when the moderator takes down your white power symbolism.

I’ve talked with some of my people and they say don’t worry, you’ll soon receive an “Honorary Aryan certificate”, it’s already in the mail.

Many people genuinely believe in positive discrimination, hence its existence and popularity, and it will continue to exist in the foreseeable future no matter how much white people are against it.

Besides, it exists in other countries as well. There’s positive discrimination for aborigines even in Taiwan.

Apparently, towards the end of WW2, Hitler did exactly that. He realised half of his new empire was composed of dark-haired, short, slightly swarthy people, and had to grit his teeth and relax his exacting standards for Aryan-ness. Anyone who met the new (arbitrary) standards got some sort of little certificate proclaiming them proper Germans (as opposed to a candidate for a mass grave).

He’s got a good point, but I wish he wouldn’t use words like ‘race’, and ‘our people’ as if they mean anything. How is an American professor, regardless of his appearance, in any way connected to the thoughts, culture and environment of a Congolese peasant?

“Black-majority nations” is reasonable enough, I suppose, but what’s wrong with, say, “Africans”? I find it pretty hard to believe that the failure of “the black race” has anything to do with their blackness, even if the fact of their collective failure is pretty indisputable.

Yeah, well, under certain circumstances I and many other people support that idea. Under very specific circumstances. The reason why we still do it in many cases is called… inertia.

LOL. Wait, sorry, I mean LOL. Positive discrimination is basically a thing form white societies, you like it or not.

But you haven’t explained us:

  1. WHY?
  2. and also, what’s the problem with people who spent more time and money on education. Why do you seem to hate them so much? you think they are somehow cheaters? you could think the same about people who go to university!

Fixed that for ya.

True, but it’s done largely to keep the peace, not because anyone thinks there’s any moral basis for it.

Personally, I’d be mortally offended if I thought I’d ever been offered an advantage because I’m a Disadvantaged Minority. My response to any such condescension would be “who the fuck do you think you are?”.

Some people only see things in black and white.

B: I’m black and my score is A-
W: I’m white and my score is A+
B: so I should take your place at university, because I’m black
W: well, I don’t see the logic!
B: there are many people who are black who don’t have money or education.
W: but you have money and education!
B: Like many whites! the World needs more black people in the university, for compensating
W: for compensating what… or who?
B: you are being racialist
W: fuck you!
B: I’m calling the police, the media, the mobs and the black panthers, we are going to fuck your life, nobody will hire you and everybody will insult you on the media. White people are disgusting!
W: fuck you already! you are racist!
B: no, black people can’t be racist because there are many poor people. And if the black countries weren’t killing each other and their own people, there would be even more poor black people.
