Coffee at home

After having used it for a while, I’m thinking of getting the grinder… I was considering something like the Prlex, but 1,000 NT for that seems expensive…

how about this one?

Bad link. Try again.

I just tested the link, and it seems to work fine. However, you can look up “《現貨!》送毛刷~CIVETTA~奇微達~手搖磨豆機~陶瓷刀盤~攜帶方便~磨豆均勻~可拆洗~品質優 非 porlex”

Er… can you guys see the link? how about that thing? is it good, bad, better, worse? It looks like it could be compatible with the Porlex…

The link works now. The grinder looks nice, but hand grinding is a pain in the ass. I have a hand grinder and an electric and I always use the electric one. It’s quick, and it only cost 300NT.

I hear you… but people here say that the grain would be anything from very fine to coarse, all mixed. Also, I don’t mind to workout a bit

Well, I ordered it yesterday. I’ve no experience with these things, and it’s going to take a while to finish the coffee I have at home, but I’ll review this thing as soon as I start to use it.

As I’m tired of manually grinding my beans I’ve been waiting to purchase a Baratza Virtuoso http://mall.pchome.com.tw/prod/QBAL0S-A9006T9G5 for my pour over set-up but kids braces and other things keep getting to my wallet first.

I’m a real fan of my Kalita 185 http://24h.pchome.com.tw/prod/DEAG0I-A9005ST8D. I bought my wife a Clever http://24h.pchome.com.tw/prod/DEAA4Y-A9006QD0K and it produces good results as well. Both are inexpensive.

I just picked up the Chinese grinder. It looks nice, but I see that the ceramic head (whatever is called) has some play… is it supposed to be that way? isn’t it that the reason for avoiding the crappy Haro?

We just bought a big black coffee machine at PX Mart 全聯. It works awesome.

I realize that my description of this coffee sounds kind of sexual, but there you go.

Does anybody know where I can get this? I mean a physical shop, not online:

You can get it here and place works 24 hours

Oh gawd, looks like a giant dollar shop…

A lot of those grinders look the same, but may not be of equal quality. I’m not familiar with that particular brand, so do your research first. Two similar brands I am familiar with are Porlex and Nippon. Both should be fine.

Remember to use decent, freshly roasted coffee beans.

Good luck. I hope you make some great coffee.

Have you seen it there?

My favourite for small shit. And I haven’t visited one in a while… although that one is a bit far from me.

I think you recommended me one of those if not both years ago when I opened the thread.

The thing is that I have some decent yet not so fresh beans that I want to finish up. I’m sure I’m going to enjoy them at least 95% the same than if they were just roasted.

Thanks! have a good coffee in your slow rain day!

Just to add to this thread, my local Starbucks is going to have 15% off their merchandise tomorrow (Mar 20th). Their coffee & coffee beans suck, but they do have some decent Bodum French presses and other pouring kettles. Maybe even a Chemex (with Chemex filters). Not sure about pour-over cones, but maybe. If anyone is interested in making decent coffee at home, it would be a good idea to pop in & have a look. Unfortunately, I’m not aware of any grinders they may sell.
