Compared to whom: the answer to most Donald criticisms

If you’re wondering why every attempt to take The Donald down a peg seems to backfire like corbomite, here’s the clue you’ve been missing. Every time you say something specifically bad about him, his supporters think to themselves: “compared to who?” Or, if they’re better educated and bit pedantic about grammar, “compared to whom?”

He’s a blowhard. Compared to whom?

He’s a braggart. Compared to whom?

He’s a bigot. Compared to whom?

He’s ignorant. Compared to whom?

He’s inconsistent. Compared to whom?

He’s delusional. Compared to whom?

He’s untrustworthy. Compared to whom?

He’s got no respect for the Constitution. Compared to whom?

He’s a dangerous demagogue. Compared to whom?

His proposals make no sense. Compared to whose?

He’s a liar. Compared to whom?

He’s politically incorrect. Compared to… wait you actually think that’s a bad thing?

Even the right is engaging in moral relativism now. You knew it was coming and in your heart you know it’s the nail in the coffin.

For the majority of those, compared to pretty much everyone.

The reason take downs don’t work is because they don’t work anywhere. They don’t work in Malaysia. They don’t work in the uk. Or France or Canada or Taiwan. They don’t work on celebrities very well even.

No one cares about mainstream media takedowns. And smart politicians know this. You just shrug it off, hit back or just wait.

It’s like how no one cares when their favorite shoes are found to be made by third world children.

Scandals haven’t had the effect they used to for well over a decade. Has nothing to do with Trump.

The Ten Comparisons

  1. Thou shalt not commit more murders than your neighbors do
  2. Thou shalt not commit more adultery than your neighbors commit
  3. Thou shalt not steal more than your neighbors steal
  4. Thou shalt not bear more false witness than your neighbors do
  5. Thou shalt not covet your neighbor’s spouse or property more than your neighbor covets yours

Amen.

The Donald criticism that can’t be answered:

He hasn’t actually put forth any policy of things that can be accomplished. He simply says a bunch of stuff that gets people fired up about what is wrong without actually offering any solutions. I might disagree with the policies that Bernie, Hillary or Cruz have put forth but they have at least said something concrete instead of complete vagueness.

Trump’s most concrete statement is that he is going to build a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it. Nevermind that he complains about the debt in his next rant about what is wrong with the US or that this doesn’t actually solve the problem but it is completely vague.

Compared to having no moral compass Donaldism is the answer.

He has funny-looking hair.

It would be an interesting exercise to lay out the policy proposals of any one of these to examine in toto. I think we’ll find there’s less than meets the eye.

I remember when people told me that if you want specifics on Il Douche’s proposals, just go to the campaign website. The joke was that the campaign website was also vague and contradictory.

Now if we can get the Mexicans to pay for Bernie’s welfare state, we’ll be in business.

Bernie, on the other hand…

Also he’s often compared to Hitler.

“Compared to whom?”

Hitler, I said!

Everybody gets compared to Hitler by somebody sooner or later.

Based on this answer I am not sure you actually have any idea what Trump’s policies are. Bernie has actually laid out plans pretty well although I disagree with some of his plans. Cruz has also been very consistent with what he plans to do although I strongly disagree with much of his platform. Hillary is rather wishy washy and is being called out for it.

Trump on the other hand is rallying the troops by shouting about what is wrong with the US but not actually saying how he is going to solve the problems. His solution never goes beyond ‘I’m a winner’ or ‘I’m a negotiator, it’s what I do’.

What are his actual policies for solving the problems?

Basically at this point I am going to assume that you don’t actually know any of Trump’s plans if he were to be elected president beside his 40 or 50 foot reinforced concrete wall that he is going to build.

That article focused on one thing that Bernie has proposed without any actual policy to accomplish it. Bernie has pretty clearly laid out plans on how to pay for free college. He has also laid out clear plans for a single payer health care system among other things. Agree or disagree it is easy to see where how stands and how he plans to accomplish most things. Trump has stated almost no actual policy and is constantly changing his answer when pressed on stuff that doesn’t make any sense or is just flat out wrong.

The leader the free world deserves - good and hard.

The problem with this is that you could write the democrats were undone by Obama being a Muslim atheist socialist Kenyan and about as many people would nod their heads and say yep that were the thing that done it.

At least somebody in the UK is paying a little closer attention

All you need to compare Trump to is himself.

Trump is still anti-gay and anti-abortion. The culture war waged on America by the religious right is still not over. Trump will just be a tool that the religious right will use to advance their goal of turning the US into a theocratic dictatorship.

Want to end the culture war and safeguard our freedoms? We need liberals on the Supreme Court.

Compared to pretty much every decent person on the planet.

Between Trumpolini and the Supreme Politburo freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.
