Not exactly new but dunno where to put it: friggin COVID at it again. No wonder there is so much coughing around.
At Tuesday’s briefing, CDC Deputy Director-General and spokesperson Lo Yi-chun (羅一鈞) said COVID-19 cases have been on the rise for five consecutive weeks, reaching approximately 40 percent of the number of cases seen during the same period last year.
He said the peak case count of this year’s COVID-19 outbreak is likely to occur in June, given that the rise of COVID-19 infections began slightly earlier than last year.
Last year’s peak occurred in early July when the number of clinic visits in a single week reach 134,000, according to Lo.
In addition, another netizen shared that he recently took leave to see a doctor because he was diagnosed with COVID-19. His colleagues were surprised and asked, “Are there any other people who have been diagnosed?” He said that it has been the 6th day since he was diagnosed and his headache was as severe as if he was under a tight hoop.
After the post was published, many netizens said, “I had a fever for 4 days, my throat was so sore, and I had all kinds of symptoms”, “My throat was so sore that I dared not swallow my saliva at all”, “Now a lot of people have been diagnosed! It’s popular again, with Mycoplasma pneumonia and AB flow”, “It’s the 6th day, and my head still hurts so much that it’s about to explode and I’m dizzy”, “Me too! It’s the 8th day after diagnosis, and my chest is stuffy and my head hurts so much”, “I never got lucky before, but I got lucky this time”, "I also have a severe sore throat, body aches, cough , and general weakness. I went to the emergency room for an IV and lay down for a week
People are hacking their heads off (NB: this is slang for “coughing violently”) all over the place in Taipei. No idea if this is COVID or something else.
It’s taking it’s time about it, in May cases were 40% less than last year and I don’t recall any issues last year so hardly a need to be concerned. I’m fairly sure traffic deaths and injuries among the healthy are a far bigger issue.
hit me hard in march - started as sore throat that rapidly progressed overnight, had tell-tale signs of difficulty breathing, prolonged rapid heart rate, resting heart rate around 90-100 bpm, unable to stand or get out of bed/feeling of weighing a ton, painful headache behind the eyes, hurt to look at any light, no appetite, some memory loss/losing track of time and unable to think clearly, with of course stubborn fever bouncing around 39C-41C. this time there was prolonged fluid in the lungs - was not pneumonia infection after checking, just fluid trapped high up in the upper chest that needed to be coughed out frequently even after all other symptoms faded. you could hear light bubbling/crackling on deep exhalation.. also a strange psychological affect with regard to drinking water, there was a an urge to be hydrated but at the same time a strange urge to keep the water away, reminds me a bit of how people are affected by rabies but definitely not to that extreme, just crossed the mind. Taste and smell were not as affected as previous covid experiences, maybe only 30%. all together it lasted 1 month, with the brutal portion lasting about 12 days.
