So it’s not working

Too early to say, but it seems infections are on a decline. Deaths will lag infection rates as the people dying now are the people who got sick weeks ago before the lockdown. Still very upsetting.

We don’t know this virus well at all
We thought it doesn’t target the young and healthy as much

Seems that may not be the case

Seems we do not yet know why most will be ok but some will die

What determines that ?

Young healthy people can still die from the common flu although it’s very rare.

Probably bad luck and genetics. The same way some people get lung cancer living a healthy life never smoking a cigarette and some guy smoking a pack a day for 30 years and didn’t get cancer.

53 posts were split to a new topic: Healthcare in US

Based on data from several quarantine facilities in the city, which house patients for further observation after their discharge from hospitals, about 5%-10% of patients pronounced “recovered” have tested positive again.

Some of those who retested positive appear to be asymptomatic carriers — those who carry the virus and are possibly infectious but do not exhibit any of the illness’s associated symptoms — suggesting that the outbreak in Wuhan is not close to being over.

On the other hand, they might just have a lot of equipment out to dig a lot of graves, so they’re just prepping ahead of time so they don’t have to do more work in the future.

I thought China cremated all bodies?

Edit: I misread that. It def said “urns”

How’s reliable is VOA?

A Voice of America report even quoted a local resident as saying that the government was paying families 3,000 yuan (US$423) as hush money if they buried their relatives before the holiday.

I don’t know about asymptomatic carriers testing negative then positive, but as to the possibility of simply being reinfected after fully recovering, Trevor Noah asked Dr. Fauci about that (thanks to @afterspivak for posting the video earlier):

I don’t know about Canada but for the US if it’s because of a circumstance beyond your control, they will re-issue an immigration visa to allow you to get the permanent residency.

I’m sure COVID-19 counts.

Yeah, me neither. A doubling every three days for some time now, starting 2,000 cases in the US in morning of 3/14 Taiwan time and we will be at 128,000 easily by 4/1. Fox News really needs to get better specialists that don’t talk out their asses. They’ve done enough damage downplaying this from the start.
