Coronavirus - Taiwan Developments Jan. 2022

I call those nipping in the bud.

They seem to be really good at nipping it in the bud.

What will Omicron be? Crushing the curve or nipping in the bud?

Or do we finally fall?

I need to blacklist Forumosa for the next two days. I keep checking this forum just to see whatā€™s being said about COVID here in Taiwan. Truly, only time will tellā€¦

Never could stand that guy

Take care @nz. I know the uncertainties of the situation can be really stressful. The way Iā€™ve managed it is to rationalize it: if the authorities here can again work their magic, then great! And if not, well, me getting upset or stressed wonā€™t help the situation either.

@nz ā€™s name always makes me think Iā€™m conversing directly with the country of New Zealandā€¦ like the land mass itself suddenly gained sentience.

Regarding what @Marco has said in terms of luckā€¦ Follow me in this theoretical exercise:

  1. If, as per the theory, patient 0 gave it to the taxi driver. Imagine that instead of an isolated taxi dedicated only to transporting folk from the airport, this Omicron carrying guy had taken the MRT.

  2. Which in this theoretical exercise and for the sake of argument, is operating normally, carrying not only travelers and airport personnel but also shoppers to that fancy outlet in the outskirts of Linkou, kids on a school trip and grannies on a hiking trip.

  3. And just for the sake of arguing, all these people are not wearing masks. And they go on their separate ways to places unknown as there are no record keeping of them ever being in the MRT. Or any store, restaurant even hospital they might visit afterwards.

Now imagine the rate of contagion.

Edit
Forgot also that patient 0, instead of going to isolation, is received by his extended family and friends, goes to a disco and a night market afterwards and ends the night having breakfast in the local doujang place inside a traditional market.

Hey the US is a short flight away! What @Icon described is pretty much what youā€™d be getting (with the exception of specifics like an outlet mall in Linkou). Let us know how it goes!

If youā€™re paying for everything plus lost wages, sure. :sunglasses:

One case vs one million cases daily.

A 10 NTD mask instead of a 2000 USD a shot of monoclonal antibodies therapy

My point is it is a choice.

That sounds like socialism. Wouldnā€™t you rather pull yourself up by your boot straps and earn that covid?!

Nah, Don is a socialistā€”he apparently wants us ALL to share that COVID.
