Depends on where they are located I guess, Some will have decided to get out of where they are with an impending lockdown, others find jobs have suddenly ended. Some of course get a dose of the ‘sniffles’ and high tail it back to Taiwan, though in some cases, could easily catch it along the way depending on the route. Then of course, we have these foreign workers coming in with some ‘excess baggage’ attached. Taiwan now has over 40 active cases, all imported of course. It was down to 2 a couple of months ago.
I had a student today tell me that she had a 50% chance of death if she contracted Covid. A 19 year old. I’m not joking.
Cos their parents told 25 year old little Johnny and Jenny …Taiwan so safe…run home to mummy! We pay for everything!

While not everyone wears a mask outdoors, everyone is required to wear one in public spaces, and maintain social distance. Also, there was almost a lockdown from late January to March, where many stores and theaters won’t allowed to open, schools postponed openning, and large events halted. The measures were only lifted once the CECC determined we have prevented community spread.

The author is saying Taiwan’s health policy was not the reason for its success. Instead she claims the population has immunity, partly because of SARS.

No exactly. It’s a very weird article.
She gives lots of reasons for Taiwan’s success, but then concludes that Taiwanese just got lucky with innate immunity gained from SARS and unspecified vaccines. Very odd.
EDIT: She’s using SARS as an example of how T cells could be built up from infection by other viruses. She’s making a massive leap to therefore conclude that Taiwanese in some way have been exposed to more viruses and vaccinations than other countries in the region, though. She’s talking bollocks, isn’t she?
