Or they can take off their masks, drink lots of water and play outside and be healthy kids.
I played double headers in days like this multiple times a week when I was a kid. No one ever got heat stroke.

They don’t even want a basic cold here and if there was a stomach bug going around they wouldn’t want that either. With a mentality like that we’ve got no chance of expecting the borders to be opened soon.
I suppose that many people don’t want to stay at home all of the time and value exercise and fresh air? Yes, it’s hot, but it’s like that every summer.
I don’t like the heat/humidity here either, but I can definitely go outside without heatstroke being “certain”.
Oh for fuck sake …
The risk for children is absolutely minimal anyway. They’re keeping the country locked down to protect people who don’t need protecting.
Absolute farce.
“On May 25, Taiwan started providing the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children between the ages of five and 11”
So, in 2 months they’ve managed to vaccinate just 6 percent of kids.
At that rate, in 5 years time they might hit the 50 percent mark … then find a way to mvoe the goalposts again.
That’s how I initially (mis)read the article too, but note that the 6.6% figure relates to kids under the age of five. I guess the numbers for the 5-11 and 11-18 age groups are much higher.

Ooh, I guess I’m in there.
Can you or somebody repost those links? I avoid all the negative threads and I guess you mean the mask complaint thread which I’m sure is full of negativity.
Since the start of Covid I have worn the 3M cloth masks you can buy in any Watsons or other places. They tie around your ears and they can hang as loosely or tightly as you want depending on how you tie them. I usually have it very loose, especially outside, to the point where it is almost a chin diaper. I can tighten it up when I go into an office or MRT. They are rewashable and don’t look as bad as those surgical ones. Has worked very well for me mostly as a fig leaf outdoors but sometimes as protection when warranted indoors.
Assuming you mean people out unnecessarily. I usually exercise outside at noon but have avoided it the last couple of weeks as we reach record temperatures. Heat stroke is on the rise, often in young people out exercising in it who think they are impervious to it. And there too many examples of young people who have died of heat stroke during summer American football practices.
But Rudyard Kipling and Noel Coward knew it:
Mad dogs and Englishmen
Go out in the midday sun
The Japanese don’t care to
The Chinese wouldn’t dare to
Hindoos and Argentines sleep
Firmly from twelve to one
But Englishmen detest a siesta
In the Philippines
There are lovely screens
To protect you from the glare
In the Malay States
There are hats like plates
Which the Britishers won’t wear
At twelve noon the natives swoon
And no further work is done
But mad dogs and Englishmen
Go out in the midday sun
But, while walking about if you stay mostly in the shade with the fairly low humidity we’ve had you can be ok and kids can play outside, just not in the peak of the day and with precautions like in shady areas.
You and your “friend” Andreas both. I sense double counting …
Well, I know that the person who gave it to me and another friend she gave it to didn’t report their cases, so it’s still an underestimate…

Mister Kipling was more prescient than he could have ever known.
I’d rather be classed among the mad dogs that the people who think this is of any value to anybody (except, of course, the politicians and their cronies pocketing cash).
The following table is from a 3-page report posted on the CDC website last 25 July about vaccinations by group: 1110725 COVID-19 疫苗接種統計資料
My question is: What happened to the 18-49 group? I noticed the bottom row of this table is a sum of the above rows, so if this table is complete, would the 18-49 group be the last row (“其他” or Other)?
Other 2 pages break down the vaccinations by County/City and by Age Group, and the 18-29 and 30 - 49 cohorts are there
(I’m having trouble finding the link to the report on the CDC website again so if you want the whole PDF, lmk and I’ll post the link somewhere or email it to you)
Locals exercise at dawn -5 or 6 am- or gather to dance in parks after 8 or 9 pm. In Rome…
Moreover, if you are exercising, you can take off the mask. Eh, what other strenuous activity could you be doing out in the open that a mask becomes a such burden that you can’t breathe?
These are more breathable and lighter than 4D ones. Also the famous CSD, while plain, are awesome breathe ably.

Thanks for the updates and hard work ! Seems its (COVID) here to stay. Back home in Japan numbers have been sky high when I thought it was done with after the last wave and now the 7th wave (the big one) is going on now in Japan, I had a break in the Baltics where they very low COVID so forgot about it a bit, but back to reality now after seeing Japan’s numbers.
