With the new rules, do you need to pass a negative test before you can leave the hotel after three days, or can you just fuck off when your three days are up regardless?
I’m feeling burned out and I just need a break. I’m start to really hate every aspect of the day-to-day life until weekends.
Also “Upon arriving in Taiwan, they will have to take a saliva-based COVID-19 test”
What happens if I do test positive? Am I then carted off to one the government-run quarantine gulags like I’ve got the bubonic plague for two weeks?
My partner is currently serving day 3 of the +4 at home. Took the Saliva test upon arrival at the Airport, but has not received any notification of the result (probably only get told if test was positive), so no idea what happens. He has not received a single text or Phone call from the CDC since arrival. Supposed to take a RAT test before going out, but has not been advised who to tell if it tests positive either, so the RAT’s remain unused, even though he has been outside the front door since the +4 started. The whole thing seems to be honesty based.
As someone who went through the hassle of testing positive and being honest about it. Don’t bother. The whole process was an absolute fucking nightmare which led to me having a breakdown.
Yes, I remember that drama evening you had, cant blame you either.
I know more than one person who did not report being positive. They felt symptoms and after confirming with a test, stayed home until the virus was cleared from their system. Did not head out until testing negative and waiting a day or two after that. I have a feeling that this way of doing things is widespread.
What happens if I do test positive? Am I then carted off to one the government-run quarantine gulags like I’ve got the bubonic plague for two weeks?
Supposedly, but only if you are staying in a hotel, but not if you are staying home. They won’t contact you about the test result unless you are positive.
With the new rules, do you need to pass a negative test before you can leave the hotel after three days
The guy who called me said to, but that I only needed to report back if it was positive.
Just recently went through this.
Cheers–I would be stopping at home. So at least I wouldn’t be carted off. But, I also don’t think I could deal with 2 weeks quarantine at home again. I was cracking up last time with it.
So basically, there’s zero benefit to reporting it back as positive lol

I think the Taiwan authorities need to explain clearly whether these prominently-announced young cases of encephalitis represent a dramatic increase in what normally happens here; the fact that they haven’t put these cases in the context of the background rate suggests either that they don’t think it’s important, or that they’re up to something. As far as I’m aware, nowhere else on the planet experienced any remarkable increase in childhood encephalitis even during the days of delta.
Taipei, Sept. 14 (CNA) Doctors at Taipei's Tri-Service General Hospital have identified a mutation in an Omicron subvariant which they believe may have been behind a string of acute encephalitis cases in pediatric COVID-19 patients earlier this year.

Interesting. So it appears (as I suggested elsewhere) Taiwan did evolve a ‘landrace’ variant of omicron, presumably due to unique evolutionary pressures. It seems to have been subsequently displaced by another strain (imported from abroad?).
