14 posts were split to a new topic: Coronavirus Taiwan - Specific Developments November-December 2022
Well, the full discussion is in the link, but here’s the précis:
“vulnerable elderly people in Taiwan who … were surrounded by people who thought it would be better if they were not vaccinated.”
… implies that COVID injectables prevent transmission. They do not. You know they do not.
The second part of the sentence has a somewhat more complex rebuttal, but your use of the word “sadly” seems inappropriate, since you are implying that these foolish old codgers have somehow inflicted a burden upon society, or upon you, by refusing to do as they’re told. It may not have occurred to you that people with terminal cancer have some awful risk-benefit calculations to make, and since “vulnerable elderly people” have an unfortunate habit of dropping dead after vaccination - albeit with fairly long odds - they might have chosen the path that gives them a little more certainty in their final days. They might also have concluded that a relatively brief bout with pneumonia might be preferable to dying in pain three months down the line, doped up with so much morphine they don’t even know who is present at the bedside. In short, from their point of view, it probably was better if they were not vaccinated; that’s why they made the choice that they did.
