The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (17) that there were 65,833 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 65,794 local cases and 39 imported cases (18 were positive for flight landing tests); 38 deaths.
The command center said that there were 65,794 new local cases today, including 31,827 males, 33,947 females, and 20 cases under investigation, aged between 5 and over 90 years old. The cases are distributed in New Taipei City (18,400 cases) and Taoyuan. City (10,184 cases), Taipei City (9,772 cases), Kaohsiung City (4,979 cases), Taichung City (4,770 cases), Tainan City (2,844 cases), Hsinchu County (2,105 cases), Keelung City (1,917 cases), Changhua County (1,613 cases), Pingtung County (1,536 cases), Yilan County (1,481 cases), Hualien County (1,200 cases), Miaoli County (1,129 cases), Hsinchu City (1,124 cases), Nantou County (614 cases), Yunlin County (581 cases), Chiayi County (556 cases), Taitung County (405 cases), Chiayi City (345 cases), Penghu County (146 cases), Kinmen County (81 cases), Lianjiang County (12 cases), The related epidemic investigation is ongoing.
The command center pointed out that there were 38 new deaths from local cases today, including 16 males and 22 females, aged in their 30s to over 90 years old, all of them had severe infections, 37 had a history of chronic diseases, and 18 were unvaccinated. The command center explained that among the 39 new cases of immigration from abroad today, 17 were male and 22 were female, aged between 10 and 70 years old. The infected country is 3 cases in the United States, and 36 cases under investigation. From May 3rd to May 16th this year.
According to the statistics of the command center, up to now, a total of 9,729,489 cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia have been reported in Taiwan (including 8,830,935 excluded), of which 896,059 were confirmed, including 12,301 imported cases, 883,704 local cases, 36 Dunmu Fleet cases, 3 aircraft infections, 1 case is unknown and 14 cases are under investigation. Since 2020, a total of 1,135 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, of which 1,120 are local. The counties and cities of the cases are distributed as New Taipei City, 542, Taipei City, 381, Keelung City, 57, Taoyuan City, 36, Changhua County, 19, and Taichung City. 17 cases, 14 cases in Hsinchu County, 9 cases in Hualien County, 8 cases in Yilan County, 6 cases each in Kaohsiung City, Yunlin County and Pingtung County, 5 cases each in Taitung County and Tainan City, 3 cases in Miaoli County, Nantou County and There are 2 cases each in Chiayi County, 1 case each in Hsinchu City and Chiayi City; the other 15 cases were imported from abroad.
The command center once again calls on the public to complete vaccinations as soon as possible, implement personal protective measures such as hand hygiene, cough etiquette, and wearing masks, reduce unnecessary movement, activities or gatherings, and avoid entering and leaving crowded places or high risk of infection transmission and actively cooperate with various epidemic prevention measures, download and use the “Taiwan Social Distancing APP”, and jointly strictly guard the community defense line.
