Almost all the time at the Tianmu branch. Usually at the Danshui branch. Those are the only two I regularly go to. Flour tortillas only, but usually both white and whole wheat.
And also from the source at the different Florida Bakery branches. The actual bakery does (used to?) have corn tortillas as well, but both times I bought them they went moldy super fast.
No, of course not. I’m almost to the point of refusing to ever try a sample (I did bend when they had Kavalan samples!) because I think it makes a terribly crowded place even worse. I don’t enjoy Costco shopping so I get in and out as fast as I can, unless there’s a fistfight over shampoo, in which case I stop to watch.
Ha. I guess we all use different landmarks. I had absolutely no idea where this was. We have a Japanese old town?! Lots of old buildings, yeah, I know that, but an old town? And I’d already lived in Taiwan for a while by the time I moved to Taipei, so I’ve never figured out where the non-MRT-named night markets are.
Zhonghe is my “local” one, relatively speaking, and I don’t find it that accessible via the yellow line. Unless you’re already living on the yellow line, I guess.
Mostly because transferring from the orange line to the yellow line is a bit of a pain involving at least 3-4 escalators and a fair bit of walking, and I often find I have to wait 8-9 mins on the platform for the next train (I guess that means I’m consistently just missing one - I’m admittedly not legging it between the platforms, but I am a relatively fast walker so I don’t think it’s just me). I usually just take the bus from the orange line instead, which seems way faster.
That said, it’s fine using public transport to get there, but coming back the same way is a bit of a hassle if I have more than say 25 kilos of stuff, and I often do. I usually end up taking a taxi back.
I agree with you. There’s still a couple of things that make the membership worthwhile for me, mostly frozen blueberries (currently out of stock), milk (currently out of stock), butter (currently out of stock/limited), ground beef, pork shoulder, chicken, yogurt, and some of the remaining cheeses, but I do find it less worthwhile than previously.
Yeah, I’m referring to the Kirkland milk, which I haven’t seen for months. I know there’s a couple of local alternatives, but they didn’t seem cost-effective compared to just buying milk elsewhere (especially because milk is quite heavy and I’m usually approaching the limit of what I want to carry up the stairs).
I usually buy 30-35 kilos at a time I guess, which is approaching the limit for what I can carry on my back. They do have a delivery option, but I believe you need a Costco/Cathay credit card, and everything is marked up to cover the cost.
Yeah, they do, but different products: some only online, some only in the store; no booze; very limited refrigerated products; and sometimes minimum orders as well. The other week I held off on ordering maple syrup because the minimum order was six bottles. Six liters of the stuff seemed excessive. A few days later the minimum had dropped to two. OK, still excessive, but not absurdly so.
The heavy stuff that I’d typically like to have delivered - 24-pack bottles of beer, 12-packs of canned diced tomatoes, big glass bottles of liquor - isn’t available online.
Slight but not large markup. Delivery only takes a couple of days. Yes, you need the Costco credit card.
