'Crocs' shoes in Taiwan

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can purchase ‘Crocs’ shoes in Taiwan.

Specifically, I’m looking to buy them in Taichung but -as usual- I will probably have to settle with buying them in Taipei.

Any advice would be swell.

Thanks in advance,

Sedition

Sorry I can’t help you, I haven’t seen Crocs in Taiwan, and, due to my shoe size, generally don’t look for shoes here. It seems to me that given our proximity to China and our rain, Crocs should be coming soon.
A few months ago, I purchased a pair at a California mall and wore them in the mall long enough to get a blister and return them. I’d advise having a pair sent to you if you’re very sure that the size and shape is right for you.
I also saw the SAME Croc-style, identical in colors and sizes and I think, quality, on sale for 5 USD in a JCPenney’s store (St. John’s Bay label?). Both shoes were made in China.

I’ve just seen a wide selection of Crocs in a camping shop in Taipei.

I can’t remember the name of the shop but here are some directions:
Go up Zhongshan N Rd from Zhongxiao E Rd
Cross Civic Blvd and it’s the first camping shop on your right. It’s a big place and you can’t miss it.

They were costing between 1200 and 1500 NT a pair i think.

There’s a shop in Warner Village, Taipei.

and also Gongguan on Tingzhou Street behind the MRT station somewhere

Edit: bloody pinyiniser :raspberry: Tingzhou starts with a “T” not a “D”

Wow, other people know about Crocs! Those are great shoes. My bro bought me a pair and I love them. Extremely lightweight, comfortable, totally weatherproof, perfect for rainy Taiwan weather. I then bought a pair for my wife.

If you make it up to Taipei, there’s a great (by Taiwan standards) outdoor/sports store near the Taipei main train station called Metroasis. I’m sure it’s been discussed in other threads on this forum. I was there a week or so ago and they’ve got a fairly wide selection of Crocs in various styles and colors.

I’d just like to say ‘I SAW THE SHOP’. I DON"T wear Crocs. I’d rather chop my own feet off.

I had no idea what you guys were on about, so I googled it… and then I realized I took this pic the other day at the City Super (for the Taichungian OP, that’s in the B1 of Far Eastern hotel, on Dunhua/AnHe, near Carnegie’s)

My sentiment EXACTLY! Horrific things. I actually thought they were some fun, colorful decoration or souvenir items. I would never have thought people would actually wear them.

EDIT: OMG, I just saw a pic of someone wearing them WITH SOCKS!!! :noway: Please, sedition, please promise you won’t wear them with socks!?

You can grow strawberries in them, apparently.

If you’re close to Danshui, there’s a little shop just up the hill from the Catholic church on the left hand side of the street that sells CROCS in all sizes and colours.
If you want a knock-off, you should be able to find them almost anywhere.

Happy Shopping

Oh, I thought you gals were concerned about labor conditions in the factory where they’re made. I didn’t realize it was a fashion thing. :unamused:

Regrettably, you’re mistaken. Crocs are hot. Founded in 2002, the company has been so successful that they sold 6 million pairs last year, raised $239 million in an IPO this year, and the company is now valued at over $1 billion.

Could that many people be that wrong? Not only that, but the company is based in Boulder, Colorado, which is one of the hippest towns in the world. If they’re wearing them in Boulder, they must be cool.

But the clincher is once you try them on. I admit, I thought they were a little bold for my taste when my bro gave them to me, but they’re so damned comfortable, and perfect for wet weather, that I really don’t care what anyone thinks, because I KNOW they’re great shoes.

:moon:

So basically you’re saying that anything that has a successful marketing campaign and thereby becomes trendy should be accepted as stylish? … Sorry, MT, I think I’ll keep my own style and taste, if you don’t mind. But I understand that not everyone can do that, so you go ahead and follow the crowd.

‘Everyone’ wears Birkenstocks. Doesn’t make it right.

Where’s Colorado?

I guess I don’t understand women. It’s ok to criticize shoes – heck, it’s good sport – but don’t even think of criticizing a haircut. Is that the basic rule?

You either get it or you don’t… MT, why do you want to understand? Do you you REALLY want us to teach you these things? Or are you just ‘Search Function’-ing to find quotable chunks you find inconsistent? Shoes, like Zen, can not be explained.

I would never criticise another’s shoes. Personal choice is a fine and hallowed thing. You could go around with flowerpots taped to your ears and I’d defend your right to do that. But with choice comes responsibility.

Ahhh, that’s the problem, I guess. I’ve always had trouble with the R word.

But, I still believe you’d only need to step into a pair of crocs for a minute and you’d be a believer.

You will start seeing Crocs in the night markets as well. I’ve already noticed them a few times as I browse through for other things. Funny thing is I haven’t seen anyone actually wearing them here in Taiwan. I hoped they were just a fad in North America and they wouldn’t make it over here.

Just for reference about how cool CROCS are… I worked at a Beer Store for the last four years in Ontatio. Over the last year, more and more of the ‘regulars’… you know, the guys who broke their neighbour’s child’s piggy bank just to get another big bottle of the strongest beer they could get before 11am, were actually wearing those things. The market over there is now saturated with them and they have already gone from being something different and cool to something everone (including one of my great-aunts at 84) are wearing.

Much like when a cool song goes from being a club favorite to the song everyone’s family loves to dance together to at weddings, everyone is wearing them, no matter what, because as my mom (age 61) said when she put on a pair at our cottage this past summer… ‘they’re cool… I’m stylish’. And she was actually serious!!! :loco:

neo-hippy rip-off of Jelly Shoes

Those look horrible. It looks like this person is walking in something that should be a vacuum-cleaner attachment. And the whole thing is just injection molded! How could that be worth more than 100 NT? :loco:

How are they weather-proof? Aren’t those holes?

Before Ronald Macdonald really got cracking with the restaurants, he used to do a few shifts at that abbottoir down by the docks. He wore a pair of Crocs when he was sluicing down the floors. In ‘red’, obviously.
