No, I don’t think so. From what I’ve read about the history of Chinese international relations, they’ve been using pompous language since time immemorial.
There’s a YouTuber I follow called 文睿 who’s noticed. They’ll make a threat, then not follow up, then change the subject like it never happened.
For example, Xi said, “The day the US sends military aircraft on the island, is the day the red line is crossed.”
Then Senator Duckworth comes in a military plane, and Xi acts like nothing happened.
China is more prepared than it has ever been militarily, but also has more to lose economically. A big difference is Xi himself, who has consolidated all power under himself and made this a personal issue. It’s a wildcard that wasn’t really there under previous leaders since Mao.
I think economically and demographically, even if they don’t attack, the trends are not on China’s favor which makes the next few years something of a now or never moment. Again, this is new.
A lot of it boils down to whether Xi thinks the best time is soon, and if he thinks they’re ready, and if he thinks the US will get involved.
They also have a history of swallowing their neighbors, that’s how China got so big.
That’s not exactly basing a squadron of F35s here though, is it?
No it doesn’t only an idiot would think they are docile. They have guns everywhere there lol. They have had actual wars there recently. You literally seem to know nothing about what you are talking about.
No they don’t. The borders with Korea and Japan changed once over a 1000 year period.
They got big because, first of all, East Asia is densely populated because rice supports a bigger population , and second, they figured out a way to govern and administer a large area with a modern bureaucracy very early.
Those regions constitute about five percent of their total population, it’s not why China is so big. I don’t know what the hell your point is, God bless you.
My point was land mass, they don’t want Taiwan for the population. You were talking about borders, and my video is pretty clear. The size of China has grown because the have swallowed their neighbors, clearly.
Nothing uniquely Chinese about that, the British didn’t exactly take Hong Kong by asking nicely, US borders are mostly a result of arms and arma sales. C’est la vie
Predictability is based on how often a similar remark or tactic of arguing is throw out by the same user. In this case claiming others points as invalid because they must be repeating something from the BBC or CNN.
