Banks routinely give me NT$2000 bills if I withdraw big amounts.
I haughtily refuse NT$200 bills given to me as change as I don’t frequent ladies of the night. ![]()
Never, not once, have I seen a NT$20 coin.

Wait what? You are saying there is some sort of connection between $200 bills and prostitution? ![]()
You didn’t figure out the strange looks you received as you kept pulling those bills out of our wallet? ![]()
Guy
You wanna join in spreading the $20 in april far and wide?
They don’t have any KMT politicians on them… ![]()
Most people react with novelty because they are relatively rare.
Yeah first time I am hearing about this angle. Got my first green note after seeing it in a cash drawer at bafang and asking the cashier if I could trade for it lol.
@afterspivak can you clarify, or is this a joke? Does the $200 bill have gangster connections or something?
No gangster connections as far as I know; the old-school association of those NT$200 bills is prostitution.
Guy
Huh. Interesting. Well, learned something new today.
Where is that coming from? I never heard of it, but maybe I need to go to whores more.
And how about Marco’s NT$20 coins? What service will users of those be associated with? ![]()
You’ll need to ask him. ![]()
Guy
The services of foreigners.
I seem to remember using NT$ 50 notes in the past, they were blue, I also remember using NT$ 1/2 coins too.
20s were popular coins for around 6-12 months and then disappeared, same with 200s very popular at the start and then just you didn’t see them. I have hardly ever seen 2000s thou, they never seemed popular at all. I think they were just too much for carrying around daily and getting change from.
Who doesnt think those are the sexiest coins going in taiwan?
We found the coin!
and 49 more.
I think you guys need more of those…
