I was just thinking that. Heading back, the earthquakes are hands down my least favorite thing about Taiwan. :ghost:

Random forumosan: Hey @Icon you keep mentioning “the old country.” Where exactly are you from?

Icon: Listen to this.

Obviously she’s from New Zealand. Quakes and volcanoes, pavlova and beer. It’s our National Anthem.

There are some quakes registered above 8.8. I can’t even imagine how terrifying that would be. As if that’s not bad enough, the quake also caused a tsunami.

Have you visited 921地震教育園區 (921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan). Just south of Taichuing in the hills, you may need take a taxi if you do not have a car. They have a room that you can feel an earthquake and show the real fallen ruins of the school there. My friend used run a coffee cafe there, go visit if you go good coffee

I have been past it! I meant to go the last time I went to Wufeng Lin manor, but ran out of time. I’ve been thinking I’ll try and head down there this weekend or the next one, given that it’s coming up on the anniversary of it.
