I was thinking more like Michael Jackson in The Wiz, but I suppose that would take some work.

Replace

I don’t think we’ll replace it, but we can add it. What should we call it?

Hmm, I should rectify that as well

Wait – you want to change all the existing :banana:s in old posts to the non-dancing variety?! :astonished:

Why not introduce the still life variety as :plain_banana: or something?

Heck, even :plantain:, but please don’t kill my dancers!   :praying:

tempogain can change all existing  -> :bananadancer: in posts

rake posts:remap["",":bananadancer:"]

I very much want to avoid logging into the command line to do that, especially when we have a much simpler / safer solution. Doesn’t Plaintain have a nice ring to it?

The only issue with that is that Discourse automatically converts real emoji to Discourse emoji format.

So if you post 🍌 it will become

You can just let the banana be how it currently is and avoid replacing existing emoji in the future.

Yeah we probably should avoid anything that says WARNING

You say that like it’s a bad thing.

Plot twist!

I had to edit it the first time to restore the dancing banana. This is how it was automatically quoted:

Edit: double plot twist. It looks like the non-dancing banana in the preview but then turns out to be a dancer when posted.

So you see for yourself where the confusion might come from.

This is there because there might be people who do not fully understand how the command works. And the warning tells them to make a backup first.
The danger is, it looks for that string and replaces it no matter what.

So if you change one -> two, it will also change someone → sometwo.

The command I posted is safe to execute, because the emoji name is unique due to : embracing it.

Of course there might be other dangers associated with the command. I don’t know how well they implemented it in regards of running it on a forum with a large amount of posts.
It might take many hours to run through all of the posts.

Right, I was being facetious, but we’re not going to go to those lengths, and if even remotely perhaps harm the database, over it.

Can we get the frog?
